Hydraulic Engineer / Technical Authority (Office-based) - VR/21045
Currently recruiting for an experienced Hydraulic Engineer / Technical Authority on a permanent staff basis for an Oil and Gas company based in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire. The Hydraulic Engineer will be expected to plan, provide and co-ordinate a comprehensive programme for the design, operation and maintenance of all hydraulic systems.
The Hydraulic Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Driving a solutions approach to client equipment requirements and equipment innovation.
- Designing, testing and commissioning new equipment and upgrading current assets.
- Integrating functional improvements to equipment and subsequent designs, to negotiate issues that arise during work programmes and ensure all drawing / build issues are captured through engineering management of change.
- Managing rebuilds or refurbishments and upgrades of equipment.
- Ensuring financial planning and control is fully utilised and delivering all works in compliance with budget.
- Providing the team with equipment related standards and processes, including:
- Maintenance standards, incorporating preventative programmes.
- Analysing maintenance requirements and programmes to maximise utility.
- Testing – FAT, SIT, commissioning, accreditation and rework.
- Documentation – operational, maintenance, set-up, etc.
- Material certification and support.
- Supporting the team in meeting all project requirements, including:
- Equipment set-up criteria.
- Equipment modifications (improvement in fit, form and function).
- Mobilisation dates.
- Fault finding processes, procedures and capability.
- Documentation for operational specific requirements.
- Building of equipment.
Experience / Qualifications:
- A Degree qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline is essential.
- Previous experience in a similar Hydraulic Engineer / Technical Authority type role, within the Oil and Gas Industry, is essential.
- Engineering design experience is essential.
- Competency in mathematical modelling is essential.
- Previous experience in the design, maintenance and troubleshooting for industrial, or mobile, hydraulic systems is essential.
- Applicants will be expected to possess experience / knowledge in the following areas:
- Demonstratable ability to create, read and understand hydraulic schematics.
- Demonstrable ability to identify and discuss the different hydraulic systems, e.g. open versus closed loop systems.
- Experience of leading the design of basic hydraulic systems.
- Sound understanding of hydraulics cleanliness and methods of particle counting.
- Clear understanding of elctro-hydraulics.
- Management and preservation of hydraulics systems.
- Sound understanding of hydraulic fittings, types and usage.
