Currently recruiting for an experienced IS Business Analyst - Management Systems Support on a contract basis for an oil and gas operator based in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. The contract will initially last until the end of November 2020, however, it’s a core role that is eligible for annual renewal, therefore, it will likely be a long-term opportunity.

   

Reporting to the Management Systems Support Lead, and working within Corporate Services Information, the IS Business Analyst – Management Systems Support will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

    

  • Providing IS business analysis, solution design / architecture and consultancy services to customers.
  • Providing assistance to IS business leads for preparation and management of IS budget and 5-year plan.
  • Providing a quality and cost-effective support service to business-specific application users and encouraging consistency across the assets to reduce costs / effort, where possible.
  • Acting as a single point of contact for business applications, ensuring that the roadmap for system evolution and the necessary support and maintenance agreements are in place.
  • Actively managing the application portfolio, ensuring the correct licensing is in place.
  • Reviewing change / enhancements requests to ensure there is a business justification and that they are cost-effective and technically sound.
  • Identifying and promoting ways in which processes, procedures and IS can be changed, or adapted, to achieve improvements in the cost effectiveness and quality of its operation.
  • Taking responsibility for significant IS / business related projects throughout the year, handling the functional analysis, as well as the technical implementation (coordinating resources from other IS Teams), ensuring implementation on time and to budget, and realising the benefits envisaged.
  • Analysing and defining detailed business / IS requirements to ensure that third party suppliers deliver exactly what is required and that solutions are implemented that will improve efficiency and / or reduce costs.
  • Planning for and leading student / contractor / third party resources.
  • Supervising, on a day-to-day basis, third party support contracts, ensuring that problems are addressed within agreed SLAs, and that the required standards for quality are met.
  • Translating between user / business requirements and technical suppliers / colleagues.
  • Making recommendations on IS expenditure for enhancements and projects.
  • Satisfying requirements of team SLAs and KPIs.
  • Ensuring that system integrity is maintained by following and ensuring compliance with agreed standards and procedures.

    

Experience / Qualifications:

    

  • Previous experience in a similar IS Business Analyst type role, within the oil and gas industry, is essential.
  • Knowledge of IS processes is essential.
  • Knowledge of IS, and how it impacts upon the delivery of application services to the customer, is essential.
  • Applicants will be expected to be able to understand and analyse a wide range of complex business processes.
