Currently recruiting for an experienced Production Engineer on a permanent staff basis for an E&P company based in central Aberdeen. This role will involve occasional offshore travel - therefore, applicants must be prepared to work offshore.

                     

The Production Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that production is maximised from all operated assets.  The post holder will support and complement operational and subsurface activities to provide recommendations for optimising well, field and facility performance. 

                 

Reporting to the Head of Production Optimisation, the Production Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Focal point and primary communication route for the offshore Operations Team for all production related matters.
  • Managing day-to-day field production operations, and maximising production through optimisation of reservoir, wells and process plant performance.
  • Providing support to the Operations Management Team through expert advice on plant and well performance to overcome problems and maximise production through characterising well problems, sources of downtime and production system capacity constraints.
  • Integrating with the Subsurface Team to understand well and reservoir performance and identify production enhancement opportunities.
  • Advising on optimum short to mid-term production strategy, co-ordinating operational activities that may affect production targets to ensure production output is maximised within the limits of the offshore operation.
  • Determining current and future well production potentials.
  • Conducting daily well surveillance and analysis of production performance against potential.
  • Developing and ensuring wells are operated in line with the requirements of the well operating guidelines.
  • Ensuring all aspects of work required on the wells is fully integrated with operational requirements and the asset activity planning cycle, including data acquisition initiatives.
  • Providing input to production forecasting process.
  • Analysing production potential of each element of the production system and monitor performance in order that maximum production capacity is always available.
  • Managing the production loss reporting process including review, quantification and categorisation of daily loss events and issue of loss reports.
  • Coordinating cross discipline production loss meetings.
  • Facilitating RCAs to drive elimination of production losses.
  • Maintaining the facility production health and production loss reporting dashboards.
  • Responsible for production chemistry management, including but not limited to:
  • Coordinating offshore process sampling and analysis.
  • Reviewing analysis reports and identifying anomalies or concerns.
  • Coordinating production chemistry studies as required.
  • Optimising chemical injection rates and consumption.
  • Providing input into chemical permitting process and monitoring of annual usage vs consent.
  • Managing relevant vendors and contract performance.
  • Chairing quarterly well integrity meetings.

                

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A degree qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (Chemical, Process or Petroleum Engineering) is essential.
  • Current / valid offshore certification would be preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar Production / Petroleum Engineer type role, within the oil and gas industry, is essential.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, directly with an E&P company / operator, would be preferred.
  • Applicants should be familiar with the theory of halite deposition and the implementation of effective mitigation strategies.
  • Applicants should have a detailed understanding of the entire production system from sand face to sales point, including the operation of topsides production facilities equipment and monitoring requirements.
  • Applicants are expected to have knowledge of oilfield production chemistry.
