TMM Recruitment are assisting in sourcing a Project Manager - Wildlife Property & Estates. You will be responsible for managing (in conjunction with the wider project team) the day-to-day construction phase of new Wildlife Discovery Centre.

   

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working predominantly in one site.
  • Budget responsibility up to £300,000, with an authorization level of £5,000 per purchase.
  • Supervising, following good management practice, managing resources within agreed limits and assisting in the construction of new Wildlife Discovery Centre.
  • Under the general direction of the Head of Property and Estates, and in close collaboration with the Projects and Sustainability Manager, working with minimum supervision, undertaking, with regards to your area of experience, the construction and maintenance of new buildings, facilities and infrastructure for the Wildlife park.
  • Providing input to the budget process and recommend cost-effective opportunities to minimise the impact of the Society’s operations on the environment.
  • Contributing to and managing database of planned/anticipated maintenance and costing which is built into the site refurbishment lifecycle and fed into wider site strategy and budgets. 
  • Coordinating and overseeing the compliant delivery and development of outsourced contracts, ensuring they are managed in a professional manner.
  • Ensuring the compliance, of your team and contractors, with company policies, procedures and guidelines, together with all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements (e.g. H&S; CDM 2015; Child Welfare).
  • Performing other duties as reasonably directed by your Manager.
  • Demonstrating commitment to continuous personal development to keep skills and knowledge of their area of specialty up to date.

      

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • HNC in construction or Civil Engineering Management, or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • IOSH managing safety or NEBOSH certificate or equivalent.
  • Up to date completion of Site Safety Managers Training Scheme (SSMTS) or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of risk assessment processes.
  • Basic understanding of small plant maintenance.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of CDM 2015 regulations.
  • Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of basic contract law.
  • Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of building related health & safety legislation.

       

Skills

  • Ability to work to parameters of Building Regulations, e.g. understanding of basic principles of structural design, ability to work to design drawings.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to understand and work within budgets.
  • Specialist repairs knowledge.
  • Ability to compliantly manage water, energy and waste management systems.

           

Experience

  • Significant practical experience in the construction and maintenance of buildings, fencing and infrastructure.
  • Experience of working to the parameters of building and H&S regulations.
  • Experience of supervising teams and subcontractors in operations and projects.
  • Experience of implementing projects in visitor attraction sites.

  • Monitoring and reporting on departmental output, activities, challenges and financial performance on a regular basis, e.g. weekly meetings with direct reports and Head of Property and Estates.
