Currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Riser Engineer (Analysis / Design) on a permanent staff basis for a company based in Cove, Aberdeen. The company is rapidly transitioning into Renewables from oil and gas - therefore, this position would suit a candidate who has a strong interest in Renewables, as well as experience in a similar role.

    

The Senior Riser Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Technical supervision of junior engineering staff.
  • Preparing proposals / quotations.
  • QA checking of calculations / reports.
  • Installation analysis of floating substructures.
  • Analysing and designing floating substructures.
  • Analysing deepwater mining risers.
  • Modelling floating structures in OrcaFlex or other dynamic analysis packages.
  • Preparing technical reports and presentations.

         

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A relevant degree qualification in Engineering, Naval Architecture, Science, Mathematics – or another technical related subject – is essential.
  • Previous experience a similar Riser Engineer type role is essential.
  • Experience of floating systems analysis and design is essential.
  • Applicants will be expected to possesses experience with ABAQUS, ANSYS, OrcaFlex and Flexcom.
  • Experience with system layout / detailed design drawings, including knowledge of drafting packages such as SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor, is essential.
  • Analysis and design experience, including the ability to undertake detailed hand calculations using Excel and / or Mathcad, is essential.
  • Experience of structural / hydrodynamic testing of floating structures (model testing) is essential.
  • Experience of deepwater riser system design and analysis is essential.
  • Applicants will be expected to have experience of mentoring more junior engineering staff.
  • Applicants will be expected to have knowledge of ABS or DNV codes and standards related to FOW engineering.
