Currently recruiting for an experienced Wells Engineer (Completion / Intervention) on a contract basis for an E&P Operator based in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. The Light Well Intervention campaign is currently due to finish at the end of July 2023 - therefore, the contract will likely run until then. The company are only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role, and this role will likely involve occasional offshore visits - therefore, applicants must be prepared to work offshore.

     

The Wells Engineer will be expected to optimise completion / well intervention operations, ensuring that designs and programmes are fit for purpose.  The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Company’s platform and subsea operated completions and well interventions across all company assets.  It is an engineering role involving studies and designs, not just operations. 

      

Reporting to the Well Intervention and Treatment Leader, the Wells Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Liaising with the Well Examiner to ensure programmes are in line with the Well Examination Scheme.
  • Participating in risk assessments, HAZOPs or HAZIDs when required.
  • Providing engineering and technical solutions to completion & well intervention challenges by positively participating in multi-disciplinary teams in well planning preparation, peer reviews, risk assessments and execution of operations.
  • Preparing completion and well intervention designs / programmes / end of well reports and coordinate other specialist inputs.
  • Interfacing appropriately with assets and other drilling / wells entities to ensure well SoR’s and well intervention requests are promptly and accurately prepared.
  • Active participating in performance monitoring, analysis and reporting.
  • Working with Superintendents to ensure that all services are planned and performed in a safe manner, to the required standard.
  • Developing estimated cost and duration for Well activities or elements of specific operations. Following the status of Well Service and Completion contracts and expenditures.
  • Initiating and preparing CFTs with concerned personnel when required.
  • As required, performing visits and audits of service companies – focusing on contractor equipment and company owned equipment stored by the service companies.
  • Performing offshore visits as required to support offshore operations.

      

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A relevant Engineering Degree qualification would be preferred.
  • IWCF Level 4 certification is essential.
  • Current / valid offshore certification would be preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar Wells Engineer type role, within the Oil and Gas industry, is essential.
  • Previous office-based wells engineering experience relating to studies and designs is essential.
  • Applicants should have experience with both well interventions and completions.
  • Applicants will be expected to have experience with WellCAT (or similar software).
