Major oil operator is looking for an Onshore HSE Safety Advisor for a six month contract role based in Aberdeen. The contract length may be extended.

As a member of the onshore HSEQ team, reporting directly to the Integrated Operations HSEQ Manager and supporting all projects works, the incumbent shall provide HSE expertise and guidance to the project, vessel and contractors.

Accountabilities and End Results:

  • Responsible for providing guidance to the Project Manager, on health, safety and environmental aspects.
  • Has independence from the line management of the project and receives guidance from HSE Manager.

Primary Functions:

  • Ensure company HSE procedures are in place to allow all relevant legislation to be complied with.
  • Lead the implementation of active and re-active monitoring programmes (including the vessel personnel).
  • Continuously monitor and coach the onshore and offshore workforce in HSE practices, provide statistical data.
  • Developing and maintaining a safety culture within the project, to the standards aspired to by the client.
  • Focal point for risk management.
  • In liaison with HSE and Occupational Health group, ensure all elements of the project exposure to Occupational Health and Monitoring plan, are complied with.
  • Liaise with the Onshore Environmental Team to ensure that all environmental permit requirements are complied with.
  • Liaise with the Technical Safety Engineer's on all aspects of the various safety issues concerning HSE (Health & Safety Executive).
  • Conduct audits in accordance with scheduled plan.
  • Support the effective utilisation of Safety Representative Organisation.
  • Provide where appropriate HSE advise and support to any vessel or contractor that may support.
  • Actively provide support in completing UK Goals.
  • Ensure the COMOPS/OCM remains compliant with all legislation regarding health, safety and the environment.
  • Provide advice and guidance functionally to the Offshore HSE Advisor, and managed accordingly.
  • Ensure active monitoring is carried out by use of management visits.
  • Prepare and support training (Awaydays).
  • Provide active communication with all other HSE work groups throughout the organisation.
  • Liaise with all key contractors/vendors in regards to HSE, or on behalf of the Project Manager.
  • Actively support SNS with accident and investigation.
  • Support the Project Manager in leading the project safety culture.

Critical Skills:

  • NEBOSH Certificate.
  • Ability to interpret legislation.
  • Presentation/coaching skills.
  • Accident Investigation.
  • Offshore Survival.
  • Offshore Medical.
  • Audit trained.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience as an Offshore Safety Advisor.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as Onshore Safety Advisor.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience of construction activities offshore.
  • Incident investigation experience.
  • Review and audit experience.
  • Experienced in reporting management issues relating to health and safety.
  • A good understanding of UK offshore/onshore current legislation.
