SURF Package Leader - VR/23830
Currently recruiting for an experienced SURF Package Leader on a contract basis for an oil and gas operator based in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. The contract will initially run until the end of November 2022 - however, it is predicted that support will be required into 2023. The company is only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role.
Working on the Glendronach Project, the SURF Package Leader will be responsible and accountable for the safe delivery and installation of all equipment that is included in the SURF (Subsea, Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines) and SPS (Subsea Production Systems). The Glendronach SURF / SPS Package includes the following:
- Design, supply, fabrication and installation of the Well Jumper.
- Design, supply and installation of GRP covers.
- Installation of the Satellite Well Protective Structure (SWPS).
- Delivery of XT.
- All associated offshore works.
Reporting to the Project Manager – Glendronach, the SURF Package Leader will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Participating in the Glendronach Project weekly management meetings.
- Ensuring employees and contracted staff from the Subsea Team are properly supervised and have been instructed and trained in the specific site regulations, the relevant systems of work and the actions required in the event of an emergency.
- Ensuring that everyone working within the Subsea Team (staff and contractors) understand and comply with company health, safety and environmental policies.
- Assisting the Glendronach Project Manager with HR for the recruitment of personnel for the Subsea Team.
- Providing safety leadership to the Subsea Team.
- Ensuring safe working practices are carried out within the construction activities.
- Developing effective and constructive relationships with SURF Contractor representatives.
- Positively representing the company at SURF / SPS Contractor’s premises, sites and on vessels during onshore and offshore construction, as and when required.
- Acting as Company Representative towards SURF / SPS Contractors, MWS Contractor and Offshore Representative Contractor.
- Safely delivering the SURF / SPS package facilities on time and within budget.
- Monitoring SURF / SPS Contractor achievements and negotiating Change Order Requests.
- Organising with SURF / SPS Contractor the weekly and monthly meetings.
- Responsible for the engineering of all equipment / facilities included in the SURF / SPS work package.
- Proactively managing the contract Scope of Work for SURF / SPS package.
- Proactively liaising with Technology, Drilling, Operations, Contractor, Sub-contractors, Vendors and certifying agency teams on all aspects of the project.
- Identifying and mitigating project risks associated with the SURF / SPS Package.
- Liaising with Interface Engineer and actively contributing to the resolution of interfaces.
- Obtaining validation of the detailed design for the SURF / SPS package.
- Providing assistance on engineering / technical aspects for mobilisation of subsea equipment and tooling for offshore installation.
- Assisting with the preparation of the pre-commissioning and commissioning / start-up activities for the SURF / SPS package.
- Preparing / supporting handover to WoS Field Operations / Commissioning Team.
Experience / Qualifications:
- A degree qualification in a relevant engineering discipline is essential.
- Chartered Engineer status would be preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar Subsea Package Manager / Lead type role is essential.
- Previous experience in a similar role, directly with an oil and gas operator, would be preferred.
- Significant project management (planning, cost control, contracting) experience, within the oil and gas industry, is essential.
