Currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer (Rotating Equipment) on a contract basis for an Oil and Gas Operator based in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. The contract will initially last until the end of November 2020, however, it is a core position, therefore it’s anticipated to be a long-term role.

Reporting to the Lead Mechanical, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

 

Maintenance Engineering:

  • Contributing to the development of strategies for the maintenance, inspection and operation of plant / equipment, to ensure that all plant and equipment meets continued assurance, verification and compliance requirements.
  • Applying the LEAN process to optimise maintenance, in accordance with Company minimum maintenance guidelines.
  • Issuing and reviewing the required PM master data changes to optimise the preventive maintenance activity.
  • Ensuring all relevant maintenance procedures and documentation are accurately maintained and are available on request.
  • Reporting maintenance, integrity and inspection KPI’s that drive Asset improvements for maintenance work management.
  • Ensuring that condition monitoring equipment is being utilised effectively to reduce periodic intrusive maintenance, to meet the requirements of the Company’s condition monitoring strategy.

Technical:

  • Providing specialist technical / engineering advice and guidance on the operation and maintenance of plant / equipment, ensuring the highest of safety standards, a timely response to technical engineering queries and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Ensuring that incidents are investigated and action incident close-outs as appropriate. Providing technical input to RCA process and take ownership of actions that prevent recurrence.
  • Conducting ad-hoc technical surveys on site / offshore and at vendor / repair locations, providing detailed technical reports, as well as identifying problems and solutions and ensuring optimum performance from contractors.
  • Verifying that maintenance and inspection strategies being executed are optimal for cost and reliability to meet Asset availability targets, as per the RAM and production efficiency targets.
  • Ensuring that maintenance activities are appropriately prioritised within operations maintenance plans.
  • Preparing / reviewing scopes of work and economic justification for facility modifications, ensuring they are correctly engineered, documented, executed and closed out with new asset maintenance added to SAP, in accordance with statutory / Company standards.
  • Taking ownership of maintenance activities that are complex in nature, as a result of having high expenditure, being technically challenging or deemed at high risk to the business.

Experience / Qualifications:

 

  • A Degree qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline is essential.
  • Extensive mechanical engineering experience, within the Oil and Gas Industry, is essential.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, directly with an Oil and Gas Operator, would be preferred.
  • Previous offshore / site experience is essential.
  • Significant knowledge of major offshore mechanical rotating equipment and maintenance systems is essential.
  • Experience with the maintenance, overhaul and operation of Rolls Royce and Siemens industrial and aero derivative engines - for power generation, gas compression and water injection – is essential.
  • Experience with the maintenance, overhaul and operation of diesel engines and dual fuel engines - for power generation, firewater and seawater service – is essential.
  • Applicants will be expected to possess current / valid offshore certification.
