Join a North Sea operator embarking on a substantial decommissioning programme as it transitions its UK assets toward cessation of production by the end of the decade. Based in Kingswells, this permanent staff role offers the opportunity to shape and deliver category strategies across a broad range of decommissioning work scopes. You’ll be part of a highly experienced supply chain function, supporting complex projects and collaborating with both internal teams and the wider supply base.

   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shaping and implementing category strategies for North Sea decommissioning scopes, using market insight and cost modelling to guide decisions.
  • Leading end-to-end tendering and sourcing processes across local and global markets, ensuring commercial and technical alignment.
  • Identifying value levers such as supplier consolidation, demand pooling, standardisation, and performance incentives.
  • Building structured bid evaluation models with weighted criteria, drawing on input from technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • Developing and executing negotiation strategies that deliver clear cost and risk benefits.
  • Preparing and finalising commercial agreements with well-defined scope, deliverables, and risk allocation.
  • Monitoring supply markets to adjust sourcing approaches proactively and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborating across functions to produce accurate material forecasts and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Managing supplier performance using KPIs and regular reviews, driving accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Applying broad commercial, legal, and supply chain knowledge to support complex contracting decisions and governance.

          

About You:

  • Experience in a similar category management role within upstream oil and gas; decommissioning and knowledge of supply chain practices are preferred.
  • Skilled negotiator with a strong grasp of commercial and contractual principles, including high-value, complex deals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. SAP) and Source-to-Pay processes.
  • Strong critical thinking, organisational, and multitasking abilities, with a focus on delivering planned outcomes.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator, able to build positive stakeholder relationships and influence decisions.
