Currently recruiting for a Site Process Engineer on a contract basis for an E&P company based in Shetland. Based at the Shetland Gas Plant, the successful candidate will work a 3/3 rotation and it’s an ongoing core contract position that will be eligible for annual renewal, so it will be a long-term opportunity. The company are only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role and this opportunity would be suited to a candidate who is in the early stages of their process engineering career.

    

The Site Process Engineer will provide on-site support to SGP operational personnel in order to achieve the best operational and safety performance of the wells, subsea facilities, production flowlines and SGP site. 

           

Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, the Field Technologist will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

Safety and Environment:

  • Ensuring that safety requirements are effectively taken into account in production activities (PTW, RA).
  • Administer and coordinate actions relating to Downgraded Situations.
  • Administer and coordinate actions for long term inhibits.
  • Managing the alarm management review process, developing RFM cases for permanent modifications as required.
  • Ensuring that environmental requirements are effectively taken into account in all activities.
  • Witnessing / reporting on Xmas tree valve integrity testing.
  • Witnessing HIPS testing and ensure paperwork is completed and returned to Instrument Technical Authority (TA) in Aberdeen for validation.
  • Witnessing ESD and blowdown testing and ensuring paperwork is completed and returned to Aberdeen for validation.

            

Production:

  • Liaising with the Well Performance Engineer on well production. Liaising with Smart Room on all production transportation related issues, and liaise with Subsea Group on subsea equipment, flowline and pipeline issues to ensure overall efficient operations and optimisation of subsea hydrocarbons production and transport.  Issuing the latest set of required well operating parameters.
  • Monitoring subsea facilities, performing flow management studies and issue recommendations for optimum performance.
  • Liaising with Smart Room on all issues related to production optimisation of SGP facilities.
  • Monitoring SGP facilities for drop in performance and identify requirements for intervention. This should include pumps, compressors and heat exchangers.
  • Thoroughly preparing all flowlines pigging operations, monitoring progress of the operations and issuing technical reports detailing results and future improvements.
  • Acting as SGP focal point for PMS and OFMS systems.

            

Maintenance:

  • Liaising with GMOC Site Representative on maintenance issues related to the process.

Planning and Coordination:

  • Acting as SGP focal point for technical issues and ensure an early reply / solution from Smart Room.
  • Making entries into Synergi – monitor and comment on database tracking ongoing queries.
  • Assisting or managing operations activities such as commissioning and start-up of small projects and during planned shutdowns.
  • Acting as ‘vessel leader’ during planned shutdowns.

         

Reporting & Investigation:

  • Inputting to site morning reports.
  • Gathering all data, inputs and producing reports to provide data to Aberdeen support teams to determine subsea facilities and site performance indicators.
  • Participating in RCAs.
  • Issuing reports for all unplanned shutdowns / breakdowns using technical report from the specialist disciplines with recommendations for corrective actions and maintaining database of actions (Synergi).
  • Ensuring all data is in line with shortfall reporting.

         

Compliance:

  • Ensuring that production activities are performed in accordance with UK Regulations, Company Rules, subsea procedures and work instructions.
  • When responsible for equipment, ensure compliance with Operations Integrity Assurance and Verification Scheme (OIAVS) requirements.
  • Maintaining SPS and SGP operational procedures and documents, updating as required in order to maintain their accuracy.

          

Control of Change:

  • Maintaining and ensuring OCR Register is up to date.
  • Supporting the Operations Team to raise and prioritise modifications in RFM system.

             

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A relevant chemical / process engineering degree qualification is essential.
  • Previous experience in a Process Engineer type role, within the oil and gas industry, is essential.
  • Previous site-based process engineering experience would be preferred.
