TMM Recruitment is working with a major, multi-national energy organisation based in Westhill to bring in an IS Business Analyst - Subsurface to join their team ASAP on a contract basis until November 2022 (with the potential of being extended). The company is only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role and remote working will be available, however there is also a requirement to attend the office in person on a regular basis.

      

Overview

The Information Services Department sits within the Corporate Services division. The Corporate Services division sets the key strategies with the MD and ExCom for the delivery of a safe and cost-efficient organisation through directing the support departments (Information Services, Human Resources, Audit, Facilities Management, Communications) of the company to achieve this goal. In directing the representative parts, Corporate Services ensures compliance with the company procedures, effective budgeting of its resources and positive management of the challenges that face a large operating oil and gas company in the UKCS.

             

Information Services provides the company with information solutions that are aligned with the company strategy. Working in partnership with the business to introduce, innovate and apply digital technology to deliver productivity gains and competitive advantage to the company, ensuring all solutions provided are fit for purpose.  Assisting the business with all its information and digital requirements, providing a reliable, efficient and cost-effective service in order to ensure that our customers can manage their information and collaborate effectively. The job holder belongs organically in Corporate Services Information Services and reports to the Subsurface Applications Support Team Lead. Internally, the job holder has interfaces with all departments in the affiliate, the company’s Global Service IT Services, (TGIT) and Business Information Services (ISB) contacts.

               

Externally, the job holder is responsible for representing the company with vendors and suppliers and amongst industry peers. The job holder manages the full software lifecycle: business analysis and consultancy, application development, implementation and support, project management and translate business requirements / processes into structured, supportable solutions. It is the job-holders responsibility to ensure that resources are deployed in the manner that satisfies user requirements within given SLA and budgetary constraints.

              

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing IS business analysis, solution design / architecture and consultancy services to customers.
  • Providing a quality, cost effective support service to business-specific application users and encourage consistency across the assets to reduce costs / effort where possible.
  • Reviewing change / enhancements requests to ensure there is a business justification and that they are cost effective and technically sound; approving requests when this is the case.
  • Analysing and defining detailed business / IS requirements to ensure that third party suppliers deliver exactly what is required and that solutions are implemented that will improve efficiency and / or reduce costs.
  • Taking responsibility for significant IS / business related projects throughout the year, handling the functional analysis as well as the technical implementation (coordinating resources from other IS Teams), ensuring implementation on time and on budget and realising the benefits envisaged.
  • Translating between user / business requirements and technical suppliers / colleagues.
  • Liaising closely with the business to maximise the company’s investment in IS.
  • Making recommendations on IS expenditure for enhancements and projects.
  • Providing service to customers in a manner that will meet set targets of cost, time, quality and performance.
  • Satisfying requirements of team SLAs and KPIs.
  • Ensuring that system integrity is maintained by following and ensuring compliance with agreed standards and procedures.
  • Acting as single point of contact for business applications ensuring that the roadmap for system evolution and the necessary support and maintenance agreements are in place.
  • Adding value to the business by implementing / developing solutions and / or enhancements that will improve efficiency and / or reduce costs.
  • Identifying and promoting ways in which processes, procedures and IS can be changed or adapted to achieve improvements in the cost effectiveness and quality of its operation.
  • Actively identifying best practices (industry, technical, professional, etc.) and encouraging an environment in which this is willing and openly shared.
  • Identifying and adopting creative and alternative approaches to problem-solving and encourage others to do the same.

              

Skills and Experience

  • High level of company / business knowledge and ability to understand and analyse a wide range of business processes in the subsurface domains. This knowledge will also allow efficient decisions to be taken.
  • Experience in Linux operating system and programming advantageous.
  • Experience in database systems.
  • Knowledge of IS processes.
  • Knowledge of other parts of IS and how they impact upon delivery of application service to the customer.
