Based in the company’s headquarters in Cove Bay. The ideal candidate will contribute to designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting IT Infrastructure. The successful candidate will have experience in areas such as Azure Active Directory, MS Windows Server / Desktop, MS365 Security and Compliance as well as good interpersonal and communication skills with both IT and non-IT staff.

     

Overview job description:

The Infrastructure & Operations Engineer works in a combined infrastructure and service delivery environment as part of the Infrastructure & Operations team which designs, implements, maintains, and supports IT Infrastructure. This is a small, cross-functional team focussed on both serving organisational needs and delivering meaningful incremental improvement.

   

The Infrastructure & Operations Engineer collaborates and works with other IT Infrastructure Engineers / Infrastructure & Operations Engineers, reporting to the IT & Business Systems Director.

      

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Performing lifecycle management of servers, networking, backups, continuity solutions, storage, telephony, and client hardware.
  • Ensuring security certification requirements are met and infrastructure stays up to date via activities including patch management, scanning / remediation, inventory management / renewal and security hardening.
  • Managing configuration, producing and updating relevant documentation.
  • Following established procedures and practices contributing to these and ensuring they meet the needs of the organisation.
  • Providing support to the organisation at all levels troubleshooting and following established procedures to resolve issues.
  • Forming a point of contact for business users and requires good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Planning work and coordinating with other members of the team and organisation as required. This includes developing work plans, reporting progress and being responsible / accountable for relevant outputs

     

Essential Experience & Qualifications:

  • Azure Active Directory / Active Directory.
  • MS Windows Server / Desktop.
  • Microsoft 365 – Security and Compliance.
  • Storage Systems / Platforms.
  • Microsoft Office products.
  • Systems management and monitoring platforms.
  • Degree in an IT subject or equivalent experience.

      

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • MS Azure IaaS / PaaS.
  • Virtualisation (e.g. VMware) Data networking Remote Desktop Services.
  • InTune, MS Configuration Manager Mitel VOIP.
  • Microsoft Exchange Online.
  • Powershell. 
  • Application packaging.
