Instrument Engineer - VR/28393
Currently recruiting for an experienced Instrument Engineer on a permanent staff basis for an E&P company based in central Aberdeen.
The Instrument Engineer will be responsible for assuring that all assigned assets are operated, maintained and designed within their design envelope.
The Instrument Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring that designated assets are operated within their design envelope, current best practice, guidance and legislation.
- Responsible for ongoing technical assurance of the asset instrument systems and equipment.
- Responsible for assuring software change control procedures on all software based instrumented systems are complied with and managing users in the software change control system.
- Providing front line technical support to operations.
- Raising technical queries and producing scope of work for change requests to resolve operating issues with the platform.
- Performing offshore troubleshooting of operational issues and plant trials of improvements.
- Monitoring performance of ICSS SCADA packages including ExaQuantum, SER, SFM, ARA and PRM, and implement improvements in platform monitoring and verification reporting.
- Conducting performance reviews to identify improvement opportunities, including bad actor analysis and root cause analysis.
- Monitoring and evaluating maintenance and fault rectification on instrumented systems.
- Liaising with major projects group on discipline specific technical issues.
- Reviewing design deliverables from engineering contractor.
- Providing operations commissioning assistance to brownfield modifications, including management of support vendors.
- Participating in Management of Change (MoC) process and ensuring instrument modifications are risk assessed and comply with MoC procedures.
- Participating in Performance Standard Non-Compliance (PSNC) process to ensure incremental risk are assessed to determine if it is safe to continue to operate and comply with performance standard non-compliance process.
- Responsible for preparation and annual budget control for instrument and telecoms.
- Responsible for management of healthcare support contracts, including KPI reviews.
- Providing instrument input to production loss reporting.
- Collaborating with production engineers to develop data visualisation, machine learning/analytics tools to improve asset availability and uptime.
- Responsible for assuring cyber security procedures are complied with and audit actions implemented.
Experience/Qualifications:
- A relevant engineering degree qualification would be preferred.
- Chartered Engineer status with a professional engineering institute, such as IET or InstMC, would be preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar Instrument Engineer type role, directly within the North Sea oil and gas industry, is essential.
- Previous experience in a similar role, directly with an E&P company/operator, would be preferred.
- Extensive operations-based and detail design experience is essential.
- Experience with Yokogawa Centum VP and/or ProSafe RA systems would be preferred.
- Applicants should have sound knowledge of IEC 61511 and IEC 62443 lifecycle and verification requirements.
