Opening for a Senior Accountant - Statutory Reporting and Compliance with a leading international energy services company. This would suit a qualified or part qualified accountant who has a high level of technical accounting knowledge with experience of preparing statutory accounts and audit.

   

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for the completion and filing of IFRS compliant statutory accounts for UK entities, foreign branches and number of foreign entities, ensuring that there is supporting information held for all balances and disclosures reported, and that deadlines for returns are met.
  • Supporting the co-ordination and completion of the group year-end audit and UK statutory audit process for each legal entity and acting as a key focal point for the external auditors.
  • Dealing with all issues that arise during this process in order to meet the filing deadlines.
  • Working closely with legal, group finance and tax departments, executing the legal entity rationalisation program for finance targeting a significant reduction in entity numbers.
  • Supporting implementation of automation of statutory accounts preparation process and ensure intended benefits.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to increase the efficiency of the statutory reporting process.
  • Acting as a focal point for the tax team with regards to Statutory accounts support and analysis collection and co-ordinated in a proper manner.
  • Full understanding of complex group structures in order to ensure correct reporting of UK entities’ statutory accounts.
  • Month end reporting.
  • Responsible for the review of monthly management reporting of small UK legal entities prepared by the Assistant Accountant – statutory reporting and compliance.
  • Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Responsible for administration of Company Secretarial related filings in company books.
  • Creating a central compliance hub that supports all compliance matters, including international branches.
  • Reviewing and filing of the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) annual ret.
  • Reviewing and filing of Employment Intermediary Reporting (EIR).
  • Ad hoc accounting support to the business as required, including bid requests and technical accounting queries.
  • Working with other entities in the Group to ensure any new entities in the UK are fully compliant.
  • Working with company secretarial on related filings in company books.
  • Supporting Group Tax Department in completion of the country-by-country reporting to HMRC.
  • Supporting Group Tax Department in transfer pricing reporting.
  • Managing and developing staff.
  • Managing Assistant Accountant ensuring efficient and productive use of their time.
  • Developing strong relationship with external auditors.
  • Mentoring junior members of staff.

        

Applicants to this role require

  • Qualified/part-qualified accountant - ICAS/ICAEW/ACCA or equivalent.
  • Capable of working to tight deadlines including managing direct report’s ability to work to these deadlines.
  • High level of technical accounting knowledge and accountancy regulations.
  • High levels of accuracy required when preparing the statutory accounts.
  • Flexible in order to respond to the changing compliance demands.
  • Experienced user of ERP is preferred due to oversight that this role has of the audit testing for all UK entities.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good people management skills as well as ability to act as a mentor for junior members of staff and build strong relationships with the wider finance team.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in Finance is required.
  • Experience of statutory accounts and audit processes is essential.
  • ERP experience is preferable.
  • Experience in an international group of companies is preferable.
