A major player in the global energy industry seeks a Senior Contracts Manager to deliver robust commercial agreements for the continuing development of offshore wind projects. This is a full-time, permanent position with the option to be based in Aberdeen (Westhill) or London (Canary Wharf).

         

During the project development phase, your main tasks as Senior Contracts Manager will include:

  • Careful development and management of the commercial relationships with key suppliers.
  • Contributing to development of a commercial and procurement strategy for the pipeline of projects,
  • Developing contract documentation for specific packages of work, including major construction contracts.
  • Preparing and managing tender processes.
  • Leading tender evaluation and making selection recommendations.
  • Negotiation of contracts through to contract signature.
  • Commercial management of contracts after signature through to completion of the related works.
  • Effective claims and variations management to minimise cost overruns and ensure contractors comply with contract requirements.
  • Reporting to and advising senior management on contract issues arising.
  • Supporting the CAPEX and OPEX estimation for the project,
  • Supporting preparation of competitive bids for state financial support,
  • Potential line management responsibility for junior members of the team if and when recruited.

       

The contracts and agreement you’ll be responsible for will include the following:

  • Main supplier contracts for the project, including pre-FID agreements required with key suppliers and service and maintenance contractors.
  • Agreements required for cable crossing and proximity agreements.
  • Service and development agreements.
  • Landowner and asset owner agreements.
  • Seabed lease agreements, in particular to ensure project compliance with the lease.

      

Applicants to this position should have extensive experience in a contract negotiation and management environment. First-class negotiation skills are essential, as is a demonstrable commercial or technical background. Experience in offshore wind is highly desirable.

     

Other requirements include:

  • Knowledge of EPCI forms of contract.
  • Leading all commercial aspects in the tendering and contracting phase.
  • Strong commercial contract and negotiation skills.
  • Be results-oriented, able to meet tight deadlines and produce concise information for senior management.
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage own workload, meet timescales and coordinate a number of external and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to enable effective discussion and transfer of information between contractors, team members and other stakeholders.
  • Diligent and detail-focused.
  • Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken).
  • Ability to work as a member of a large, multidisciplinary and international team.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
