Senior Project Engineer - VR/27318
Currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Project Engineer for a global provider of specialist engineering, inspection, operations and maintenance services to the oil and gas, renewables and industrial markets. It is a permanent staff position, and the post holder will be based out of the company’s Bridge of Don office in Aberdeen. Hybrid working opportunities will be available after completion of a 3-month probationary period.
The Senior Project Engineer will support financial / contract management, quality orientation, safety leadership and continuous development in all aspects of crane, lifting and support service activities. The post holder will ensure technical integrity through setting best practice and providing a high level of technical guidance on all project engineering related matters.
Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, the Senior Project Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
Project Engineering
- Administration of assigned project files.
- Liaising with clients and subcontractors.
- Preparing calculations, work procedures and risk assessments.
- Working to recognised quality standards.
- Developing and managing project schedules.
- Completing purchase requisitions.
- Arranging equipment dispatch and transportation.
- Leading site / offshore work scopes as required.
- Completing close out reports and technical documentation.
- Proactive financial control of assigned projects, and review invoice drafts.
- Ensuring major risks associated with the delivery of engineering projects are fully understood and effectively mitigated and managed.
- Reviewing work produced by others, providing feedback and identifying corrective actions.
- Actively providing technical guidance and mentoring to others to promote competence and ensure successful delivery of projects.
Technical:
- Identifying and specifying mechanical components and tooling, as required.
- Identifying and specifying rigging and lifting equipment in accordance with approved lifting plans.
- Applying knowledge of mechanical equipment replacement, repair or refurbishment.
- Understanding and interpreting crane and equipment mechanical drawings and data sheets.
- Ensuring best practice in all areas of mechanical system construction, installation, testing and commissioning.
- Determining customer requirements and objectives and assist in developing specifications for projects / systems to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Applying understanding of industry standards and directives in delivering projects to the required specification.
- Overseeing manufacture and function testing of new, modified and refurbished equipment.
- Preparing Factory Acceptance Test procedures and running FAT with client witness.
- Compiling technical specifications and documentation packages.
Experience / Qualifications:
- An HNC/HND/degree qualification in an Engineering discipline is essential.
- Previous project engineering experience within the North Sea oil and gas industry is essential.
- Applicants should have sound knowledge of engineering standards, procedures and work practices.
- Proven experience in delivering projects and meeting targets, within project environments, is essential.
