Be The Driving Force Behind A Digitally Inclusive Future.

The periods of lockdown have shown the importance of being digitally connected in supporting our personal and community wellbeing, however the impact of everything moving online, including vital services, has only highlighted further the digital divide and increased inequalities.

The Aberdeenshire Employability Partnership, Employment CONNECT, has made digital inclusion a priority area and has commissioned the Digital CONNECT programme. Managed and delivered by shmu, Digital CONNECT will work with partners across Aberdeenshire to engage young people who have limited or no access to the internet, digital devices and help them develop the digital skills they require to make the successful transition into sustained employment.

As the lead for this initiative, you’ll work with a range of stakeholders to put in place a series of digital interventions that will provide digital connectivity, access to digital kit, and develop and enhance digital skills. Specifically, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing and managing all operational aspects of the Digital CONNECT project.
  • Providing a high standard of line management support to the Digital Connect staff team.
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reporting, to include the development of a sustainable financial model to continue the programme beyond the initial funding.
  • Establishing strategic links with relevant agencies and organisations locally and nationally, to ensure the impact of the Digital CONNECT programme is shared, and the impact is recognised.

This role requires a leader who is a collaborator, project manager and digital evangelist.

Collaborator: Stakeholders will be Aberdeenshire wide and include those involved in the Digital Inclusion and Tackling Poverty workstreams as well as young people from the target group. A flair for communication and collaboration across a wide range of stakeholders will be required to enable engagement and mutual understanding.

Project Manager: Apply your skills, knowledge and experience to develop an overall plan for the Digital CONNECT programme. Demonstrate successful data gathering, digital programme execution and the attainment of agreed objectives.

Digital Evangelist: Passionate about the importance of being more ‘connected’ both digitally and in real terms and an advocate for the essential role digital inclusion plays in individual and community wellbeing and prosperity.

The first phase of this project will identify the key digital inclusion employability priorities across the local authority and could lead to targeted interventions that will have life-changing consequences for individuals and communities. To understand the full scope of this role please request a candidate pack from Emma Hunter.

It includes the detailed job specification along with supporting background information about shmu and the Digital CONNECT programme. In addition to being clearer about whether this opportunity is right for you, this information will support your application and subsequent interview preparation.

This post is for a fixed term of 12 months, with the opportunity to extend.
