Operations Lead - VR/29405

Currently recruiting for an experienced Operations Lead on a contract basis for an E&P company based in central Aberdeen.

     

The post holder will be providing cover for a seconded individual and the contract is anticipated to last until at least the end of the year.  The company are ideally looking to take on a candidate who is available at short notice and they are only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role.  This role will likely involve occasional offshore visits – therefore applicants must be prepared to work offshore.

           

This role would suit a candidate who has experience in a Lead Operating Integrity role, and who has a good understanding of operational management, hazard legislation and process safety management within the North Sea oil and gas industry.  The successful candidate will be expected to drive improvements to the Permit to Work process, as well as competency and training. 

         

The Operations Lead will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the development of operating integrity framework and its assurance and governance processes across the company.
  • Ensuring best practice execution of operations within operated assets.
  • Providing subject matter expert input across the full lifecycle of all operated assets.
  • Standard and Process Setting:
    • Leading the refreshing of Permit to Work processes (PtW), safe isolation and reinstatement of plant processes, both the development and coordination of the embedding. The revised processes will be standardised across the assets and will be done in close cooperation with asset personnel. 
    • Leading the update to the Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) process and ensuring process input, such as Completions, are clearly integrated into the PSSR process.
  • Operations Skill Pool Development:
    • Working with the Training and Competence Team, driving improvements in the effectiveness and efficiency of the T&C process for Operated Assets. A key focus is on how to measure status of T&C across shifts.
    • Maintaining an active cross asset operations integrity forum.
  • Production Operations:
    • Providing support and objective input to any complex production operations issues or threats across the operated assets.

          

Experience / Qualifications

  • A degree qualification would be preferred.
  • Current/valid offshore certification would be preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar Operations Lead type role, directly within the North Sea oil and gas industry, is essential.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, directly with a North Sea-based E&P company/operator, is essential.
  • Applicants should have a sound understanding of operational management, as well as operations readiness and assurance.
  • Applicants should have a comprehensive understanding of major hazard legislation and its implications for operational controls.
  • Applicants will be expected to have a good understanding or process safety management and the practical applications of an operating integrity framework.
