Currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Project Engineer on a contract basis for an E&P Company based in central Aberdeen. It is an initial 6-month contract position, however, there is strong potential for a contract extension. The company are only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role and there will likely be a requirement for occasional offshore travel - therefore, applicants must be willing to work offshore.

The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for developing a 2 yearly rolling topsides engineering modifications plan for the Triton and Western Isles FPSOs, initially for 2023 and 2024.  The post holder will manage and facilitate discussions between several departments so the successful candidate will need to be able to articulate the value of the project management process.  In addition to feeding into the integrated asset plan and forming the basis for day-to-day management of engineering delivery, this activity also forms part of an ongoing improvement plan to upgrade engineering delivery within the organisation.

This role would suit an experienced Project Engineer who is familiar with all stages of the typical gated engineering process used for offshore modifications.

Reporting to the Engineering Lead, the Senior Project Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordinating a prioritisation exercise of the current engineering modifications register, such that scopes are ranked based on people, environment, asset / loss and reputation, and secure agreement of these priorities from the key stakeholders (including Operations, Offshore and HSSE).
  • Determining the expected offshore resourcing required to deliver each scope (e.g. manning and duration) versus the available resource on the asset to deliver the work.
  • Documenting the current project phase and determining the expected date for readiness of each scope for offshore construction.
  • Gaining agreement with the key stakeholders as to which scopes shall make up the baseline plans for engineering delivery.
  • Producing the initial plan for discussion and review.
  • Estimating the internal and external engineering resources required to deliver each stage of the agreed scopes to suitably resource the engineering team and secure appropriate vendor support.
  • Developing and maintaining cost forecasts for the planned scopes, ensuring forecast spend is fully itemised within respective OPEX / CAPEX budget submissions.
  • Ensuring agreement of spend above a certain threshold via Approval for Expenditure (AFE) process, with support from discipline SPAs as required.
  • Developing the project management and asset planning documentation for the planned scopes (e.g. Job Initiation Forms, Statements of Requirement, Work Orders, Plan Activity Requests) with input from discipline SPAs as required.
  • Coordinating progress reporting for engineered modifications, including input to monthly engineering reports, asset reports, performance reviews and operating committee meetings.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar Senior Project Engineer type role, within the oil and gas industry, is essential.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, directly with an E&P Operator, would be preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of the gated engineering management process is essential.
  • Applicants should be familiar with all phases of engineering modifications (appraisal, selection, definition, execution and close-out).
  • Applicants will be expected to possess vendor management experience.
