Help Eradicate Digital Exclusion And Support Young People Into Employment.

The periods of lockdown have shown the importance of being digitally connected in supporting our personal and community wellbeing, however the impact of everything moving online, including vital services, has only highlighted further the digital divide and increased inequalities.

The Aberdeenshire Employability Partnership, Employment CONNECT, has made digital inclusion a priority area and has commissioned the Digital CONNECT programme. Managed and delivered by shmu, Digital CONNECT will work with partners across Aberdeenshire to engage young people who have limited or no access to the internet, digital devices and develop the digital skills they require to make the successful transition into sustained employment.

As the Digital CONNECT Development Worker, you will play a vital role operationally, working with partners to identify what already works well and where the gaps are. You will also design and deliver innovative new training programmes which will engage young people who have limited or no access to the internet, digital devices and support them to develop the digital skills they require to make the successful transition into employment. You’ll do this by:

  • Supporting the operational delivery of the Digital CONNECT programme.
  • Identifying, collating and distributing high quality open source digital training resources from national and international sources.
  • Designing and delivering digital skills training programmes and, through partners, identifying and training Digital Champions across Aberdeenshire.
  • Working with the Coordinator to gather evidence and case studies to show the value and impact of the work.

You’ll excel in this role if you are a technically proficient, adaptable, digital skills trainer.

Technically proficient: Technical background in and proficient in the use of digital and IT software applications.

Adaptable: This multi-faceted role has the design and delivery of digital skills training at its core but you’ll be called upon to use your initiative and work with a wide range of stakeholders to support the Digital CONNECT Coordinator achieve the programme’s objectives.

Trainer: Draw upon your experience in digital skills training to design a programme which meets the needs of the service users and illustrate how you thrive in a variety of settings where it’s essential you can convey digital concepts to trainees and others of limited experience, understanding and knowledge.

To decide if this role is right for you please request a candidate pack from Emma Hunter. It includes the detailed job specification along with supporting background information about shmu and the Digital CONNECT programme which will support your application and subsequent interview preparation.
