E&I Systems Engineer - VR/29588
Currently recruiting for an experienced E&I Systems Engineer on a permanent staff basis for a global Subsea company based in Westhill, Aberdeenshire.
The E&I Systems Engineer will provide technical support to electrical, DP and marine control systems for vessels, sites and departments. Reporting to the E&I System Superintendent, the E&I Systems Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Providing technical support to ensure the operation, modification and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems associated with company assets/vessels are fully operational and in compliance with current legislation.
- Ensuring the efficient execution of projects (office and site) based tasks within the agreed time frames and budgets, as per company project management processes.
- Directly supervising and controlling 3rd party suppliers, including direct onsite/on-board supervision.
Electrical
- Providing technical support fleet-wide, covering vessel electrical infrastructure including:
- High voltage systems, power generation and switchgear.
- Low voltage systems, power generation and switchgear.
- Power management systems, control units and svc interface.
- Protection systems and relays.
- Providing guidance and technical documentation for upgrade and modification work on all electrical systems.
- Controlling and developing fleet wide maintenance schedules.
- Providing technical cover and emergency response support, including travel/vessel attendance, and incident investigations.
- Developing specifications, liaising with suppliers, reviewing tenders and procuring electrical equipment, systems, hardware and software.
Instrumentation
- Providing technical support, fleet wide to cover vessel instrumentation including:
- Propulsion control systems.
- DP control and position reference systems.
- Navigation systems.
- Vessel monitoring systems including alarm systems, PA, PMS and condition monitoring systems.
- Life-saving systems, fire detection, gas detection and fixed fire-fighting systems.
Interface
- Liaising and supporting across other technical disciplines for all electrical and instrumentation interfaces.
- Supporting and feeding into conceptual design studies for new assets to ensure electrical infrastructure is fit for purpose and a robust design, including future upgrade/expansion options, are comprehensively considered.
- Technical review of options for modifications and life extension.
Experience/Qualifications:
Essential
- A Degree or HNC/HND qualification in a relevant electrical/instrumentation engineering discipline.
- Experience in the Offshore / Marine industries.
- Experience in the design, installation, modification and support of marine electrical systems.
- Knowledge of vessel electrical / instrumentation equipment and operating routines.
- Knowledge of electrical (marine) systems or HV / power and generation, as well as project management procedures.
- Ability to communicate technical requirements between operators, vendors and colleagues.
- Experience in supervising project specifications and vendors.
- Ability to understand electrical drawings, concepts and designs.
Preferred
- Experience with operating and maintaining HV and LV power distribution equipment.
- Operational knowledge of DP, navigation and bridge equipment.
- Knowledge of planned maintenance systems.
- Experience in project management.
- Familiarity with classification society regulations for marine installations.
- Knowledge of FMEA and FMECA processes.
