You will be building and servicing new and existing tools / systems and generating / maintaining appropriate documentation to record the work. The ideal candidate will have experience as a Mechanical Fitter in the oil industry, preferably downhole tools.

Principal duties

• Undertaking build, repair, and maintenance of downhole mechanical assemblies.
• Performing test build of new equipment; perform prototype testing.
• Being competent to work on mechanical equipment and systems in the downhole sector of the oil industry.
• Reading drawings, interpreting work instructions, and performing the work to time and quality.
• Being able to carry out surveys and pre-fit examinations of equipment.
• Advising on ordering of equipment for new tools and development work.
• Carrying out function and pressure testing. Carrying out gas testing.
• Participating in design reviews.
• Supporting internal customers on technical queries.
• Maintaining build files and related documentation.
• Supporting operations by working at client sites (onshore and offshore).
• Competent to use general workshop machinery and hand tools related to the role of a Mechanical Fitter.

Required Knowledge & Experience

• Time served apprenticeship or equivalent.
• 5 years’ experience as a Mechanical Fitter or Tool Dresser.
• Oilfield downhole tools.
• Ideally have hydrostatic and gas testing experience.
