Senior Geologist - VR/30151
Currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Geologist on a contract basis for an E&P company based in central Aberdeen. It is an ongoing long-term contract position, and the company are only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role.
The Senior Geologist will be responsible for constructing and maintaining static models for the fields and discoveries within their assigned asset, ensuring accuracy and reliability. The post holder will collaborate with multidisciplinary sub-surface teams to identify new drilling opportunities and assess well workovers/interventions for production enhancement. Additionally, the Senior Geologist will plan wells, evaluate well results, and oversee geological studies conducted by third-party contractors. They will contribute to the company's change process and lead development project activities when required.
Reporting to the Head of Subsurface, UK, the Senior Geologist will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Constructing and maintaining static models for the fields and discoveries in assigned asset.
- Working with the other members of the multi-disciplinary sub-surface team assigned to the asset to identify new drilling opportunities, as well as production adding well workovers/ interventions opportunities.
- Managing geological studies carried out by 3rd party contractors and vendors.
- Supporting the company’s process of change and continual improvement.
- Leading and coordinating development project front end activities when required.
- Acting as Peer Reviewer when required.
- Preparing seismically generated inputs for reservoir engineering simulation and plume modelling and advise clients on the best choice of processing parameters to apply.
- Providing high-quality geological input for development projects and ongoing field operations.
- Generating 3D geocellular models to support field development and exploration efforts.
- Actively participating in multi-disciplinary Project Teams to ensure comprehensive collaboration.
- Generating drilling prospects, plan wells, and monitor and evaluate well results.
- Maintaining a prioritised inventory of development opportunities for the field.
- Collaborating with other function groups to prepare business cases for opportunities, outlining benefits, costs, and risks.
- Writing concise reports for all studies and maintaining organised records of input and interpreted data.
- Conducting data room evaluations for potential farm-in opportunities.
Experience/Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Geology (or similar) is essential.
- Previous experience in a similar Senior Geologist type role, directly within the North Sea oil and gas industry is essential.
- Previous experience in a similar role, directly with a North Sea-based E&P company/operator, would be preferred.
- Petroleum geology experience is essential.
- Applicants should have experience in building and using 3D geological models.
- Applicants should have previous experience in project drilling operations, as well as with well workover/intervention operations.
