Accounts Assistant - VR/31431
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Assistant to join growing and dynamic team on a full-time permanent basis. This role will see you supporting the Finance Team in a wide range of duties, including month end. You should have demonstrable experience in a similar role to succeed in this position, as well as the ability to manage a busy workload.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintaining and updating the fixed asset register, processing depreciation, and preparing month-end accounting packs, including analysis of capital expenditure against budgets and variance explanations.
- Preparing and reconciling balance sheets and intercompany accounts for multiple entities, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Managing prepayment schedules and additions, supporting audit accruals, and allocating offshore maintenance costs to ensure accurate month-end reporting.
- Posting and reconciling credit card transactions, liaising with employees to obtain supporting documentation and coordinating with Accounts Payable to ensure statements and payments reconciliation.
- Assisting in preparing and submitting tax returns, including VAT and fuel duty claims, while maintaining accurate supporting documentation for year-end tax packs.
- Supporting the preparation of ONS surveys, ensuring compliance with statutory reporting requirements.
- Assisting with foreign exchange revaluation processes and review related accounting entries for accuracy.
- Setting up and processing manual payments through the banking portal while maintaining robust financial controls.
- Preparing and posting ad-hoc journals as required, supporting the wider Finance Team with month-end closing activities.
- Providing ad-hoc support to the Finance Team, responding to queries from internal departments and external suppliers, and offering cover for other Accounts Assistants when needed.
About You
- You will have similar experience in a finance or accounts role with proven knowledge of month-end as well as a broad range of finance duties.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience using financial or ERP systems.
- Highly organised, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, demonstrating professionalism and a proactive approach.
