Our client, a growing Oil and Gas service company require an Ad Hoc Level 3 Rope Access Team Leader to work onshore. They have several building maintenance contracts for the public sector, and the successful candidate would be required to run the Rope Access Team.

 

We require someone with previous experience in a similar role, with all up to date certification for a minimum of Level 3 Rope Access.  Ideally the candidate will have experience in building maintenance, for example, repairing roofs and inspection work etc.  The successful candidate will be required to complete some paperwork on a regular basis.

Job Description:

All Level 3 Technicians will be capable of carrying out advanced Rope Access Techniques in order to gain access to work areas, in a safe manner, using the rope access skills that have been learned during training, and developed through experience gained, to carry out the primary role.

A Level 3 Technician is the Primary Safety Supervisor directly responsible for the safety of the Team of Rope Access Personnel.  Should there be an incident, he will initiate a rescue with the assistance of the team.  The Level 3 Technician is the link between the Client and their Safety System and will ensure that work is carried out safely and efficiently.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Comply with, promote and positively contribute to the company Health and Safety and Environmental policies, and actively contribute to the HSE objectives for each year, and the HSE improvement plan.
  • Ensure that company values, procedures and policies are promoted to all staff and followed thoroughly.
  • Demonstrate the appropriate level of knowledge and experience of Rope Access Techniques.
  • Rope Access 3 Technicians are an integral part of a 2 Man Team (or more) and are required to carry out Advanced Rope Access Tasks.
  • The role of the Level 3 Technician is one of Safety Supervisor. Without the attendance of a Level 3 at the work site, no Rope Access work can be carried out.
  • It is a mandatory requirement that a Pre-Use Safety Check on the Rope Access Equipment is carried out to ensure personnel safety at all times.
  • Ensure completion of their IRATA logbook.
  • Produce daily reports on work completed as directed.
  • The Level 3 Technician is responsible for the team's equipment and all associated paperwork, which includes but is not limited to; Equipment Manifests, IRATA Form B, Timesheets, Tool Box Talks and Workpack Documentation.
  • Will actively participate in on-site Task Based Risk Assessments to identify additional risks and hazards involved in the work scope, prior to work commencing.
  • Ensuring valid work permits and associated paperwork are in place prior to work commencing.
  • To set a personal example on safety standards and procedural compliance.
  • Ensure that your daily routines and all works are carried out with the minimum wastage of materials and as low an environmental impact as possible.
  • Ensure that all environmental incidents are managed and reported as appropriate.
  • Is it a mandatory requirement that all technicians are capable of using rope access techniques in a safe manner to be in a position to carry out the primary role.
  • Rope Access Level 3 Technicians are qualified to set up ropes and pulley systems to allow work to be carried out in an efficient manner.
  • During a rescue situation, the Level 3 Technician will organise and supervise the rescue, giving the remaining members of the team guidance on how to initiate and carry out the rescue. Should the Level 3 Technician need to physically retrieve any casualty by climbing or abseiling, the remaining members of the team well be left in a position where they may need to recover the Level 3 if needed.
  • At no time will the Level 3 Technician put themselves in a position which will compromise their own safety.
  • It is the Level 3 Technician's responsibilities to ensure that the equipment is back-loaded as per company procedures.
  • Maintain and cultivate interactions with all clientele.
  • Ensure all company equipment is maintained in a proper fashion.
  • Ensure all HSEQ requirements as dictated by company policy are carried out in a proficient manner.
