AP Controller - VR/31656

An opportunity has arisen for an AP Controller to join a busy team and provide support during a period of change on an initial 9-month contract. This role will see you play a key role within the team processing a high volume of supplier invoices, while supporting with wider Purchase Ledger duties. You should be experienced within Accounts Payable and able to quickly adapt to change to succeed in this role.

     

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processing supplier invoices and credit notes accurately within the accounting system, ensuring proper authorisation and adherence to established payment procedures.
  • Maintaining and updating vendor accounts, ensuring all information is accurate and current.
  • Preparing and processing invoices for payment within agreed timescales.
  • Liaising with internal departments to ensure prompt approval of invoices and resolution of any discrepancies or queries.
  • Reconciling supplier statements against the Purchase Ledger, investigating and resolving any differences in a timely manner.
  • Initiating and processing payments to suppliers in line with payment schedules and company policies.
  • Accurately coding overhead invoices to the appropriate cost centres.
  • Reconciling inter-branch and inter-company accounts, ensuring balances are accurate and supported.
  • Maintaining accurate filing and documentation to support all transactions and audit requirements.
  • Assisting with audit requests and providing relevant information to the wider Finance Team as needed.

      

About You:

  • Demonstrated experience working within an accounts payable or finance function.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a methodical and proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with modern accounting or ERP systems.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and control.
  • A collaborative team player who embraces change and seeks opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
