Assistant Accountant - VR/31672
An opportunity has arisen to join a well-established team on a full time, permanent basis as an Assistant Accountant. This position will see you support in the day-to-day accounts as well as supporting with weekly, monthly and management accounting duties. You should have good experience in a finance role, with a desire to learn and continue your development to succeed in this role.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met.
- Completing month-end processes including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, internal recharges, and job analysis.
- Reconciling supplier statements, ensuring key supplier accounts are accurate and up to date.
- Assisting with quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting, providing relevant financial data and analysis.
- Contributing to year-end activities, including audit support and preparation of schedules and documentation.
- Processing and reconciling bank transactions, including posting payments and maintaining accurate bank records.
- Preparing weekly payroll input, collating data from multiple sites, posting payroll journals, and resolving payroll-related queries.
- Ensuring PAYE payments are submitted and reconciled accurately, and assisting with VAT reconciliations and returns.
- Maintaining and updating financial systems, including setting up new suppliers, running credit checks, and updating exchange rates.
- Providing general financial and administrative support as required, maintaining organised and compliant accounting records.
About You
- Part-qualified or studying towards a recognised accounting qualification, or significant experience within an accounts role with a desire to learn and progress.
- Strong working knowledge of month-end processes, reconciliations, and management reporting.
- Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems, with advanced Excel skills and attention to detail.
- Able to work effectively to tight deadlines, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced finance environment.
- A proactive team player with strong communication skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
