The BD/Commercial Manager role is central to a business providing specialist services across subsea, offshore, renewables, and marine infrastructure. Supporting clients throughout the lifecycle of their projects, the position combines commercial leadership with business development, shaping strategies, securing work, and building the relationships that underpin long-term growth in both established and emerging energy markets.

    

Key Responsibilities:

  • Representing the organisation with clients, partners, and industry groups, ensuring a consistent and professional approach.
  • Building and managing a pipeline of opportunities, setting clear priorities to support business acquisition goals.
  • Developing win strategies for target opportunities and guide projects into the tendering phase.
  • Working closely with clients to shape projects around company capabilities and competitive strengths.
  • Identifying and pursuing partnerships, technologies, and resources needed to secure strategic work.
  • Leading the preparation and submission of proposals, ensuring they are commercially robust and achievable.
  • Driving the conversion of tenders into awards, balancing opportunity with risk.
  • Collaborating with operations teams to align commercial commitments with delivery capability.
  • Contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to track and support regional performance.
  • Providing input to long-term business strategy, highlighting strengths, capability gaps, and market developments.
  • Representing the company in relevant forums and support marketing activity to strengthen profile.
  • Embedding lessons learned into the tendering and commercial process to improve outcomes.

              

About You:

  • Proven background in business development and commercial management within subsea, offshore, engineering, or manufacturing.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to evaluate opportunities and manage risk.
  • Skilled in building relationships and engaging effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with experience in assessing budgets, tenders, and project risks.
  • Resilient and self-motivated, able to manage competing demands under pressure.
  • Clear communicator with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience in contract management and exposure to offshore renewables would be an advantage.
  • Leadership capability with a track record of managing and developing others.
