We are looking for an experienced Blast & Paint Lead to join our client in Aberdeen. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled professional to take ownership of blasting and painting operations, lead a dedicated team, and help drive the adoption of robotics and innovative technologies.

     

Reporting to the Fleet Refurb Manager, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality results, maintaining efficiency, and ensuring that safety and compliance remain at the forefront of all activities.

      

Overview job description:

  • Allocating and managing resources to complete blast and paint tasks on time and to the correct quality standards.
  • Delivering toolbox talks and driving a strong HSE culture within the team.
  • Programming and operating blast and paint robotics, ensuring the team are fully trained in their use.
  • Undertaking paint reports as required.
  • Supporting the team by backfilling when necessary to meet targets.
  • Fostering a “first time quality” mindset across all operations.

      

Applicants to this role require:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team in blasting/painting operations.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to allocate tasks and monitor performance.
  • Demonstrated experience in training and developing others.

      

Technical Expertise

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in precision blast and paint environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of paint systems, coatings, blasting techniques, and industry standards.
  • Track record in preparation, application, and finishing of industrial painting/blasting projects.
  • Experience with paint/blast robotics and willingness to embrace new technologies.
  • NACE Level 1 or ICorr Level 1 qualification (minimum).

      

Problem Solving & Decision Making

  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently while escalating critical issues when needed.

  • Comprehensive understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Commitment to a safe, compliant workplace and to first-time quality delivery.

      

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

  • Confident communicator able to give clear direction and feedback.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-focused approach.

      

Desirable Requirements

  • Additional qualifications in blasting, painting, or coatings (e.g. ICorr/NACE Level 2+).
  • Experience developing and delivering training or mentoring programmes.
  • Familiarity with lean processes, continuous improvement, or efficiency-driven methods.
