Category Management & Strategic Sourcing Advisor - VR/30895

This is a 12-month contract opportunity to support decommissioning activities in the UK North Sea. Working within a dynamic Supply Chain Team, you’ll help shape and implement category strategies, manage supplier relationships, and deliver commercial value across complex scopes. The role sits with a leading independent energy company known for its agile structure, operational focus, and global presence.

     

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing category strategies for North Sea decommissioning scopes.
  • Conducting assessments of goods and services, building supply market analysis, and creating cost models.
  • Exploring category levers such as pooled demand, standardisation, and supplier incentives.
  • Managing competitive bidding processes for local and global sourcing events.
  • Optimising total cost through supplier consolidation, alliances, and market leverage.
  • Constructing complex bid evaluation models using stakeholder input.
  • Developing detailed negotiation strategies that balance risk and value.
  • Preparing and executing commercial agreements that define and protect business relationships.
  • Monitoring supply market indicators and adjust category strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and suppliers to create accurate forecasts and maintain appropriate stock levels.
  • Driving supplier performance management through KPIs and continuous improvement.
  • Applying industry, commercial, legal, and market knowledge to maximise value.
  • Positively challenge internal teams and contribute creative sourcing strategies.

      

About You:

  • Strong background in upstream oil and gas, preferably with experience in decommissioning.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver category strategies.
  • Confident conducting market analysis and building cost models.
  • Experienced in managing strategic sourcing events and bid evaluations.
  • Skilled in drafting and executing commercial agreements.
  • Able to lead negotiation strategies that balance value and risk.
  • Strong understanding of supplier performance management and KPI tracking.
  • Proficient in Excel for modelling and analysis.
  • Familiar with SAP and source-to-pay processes.
  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Well organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities.
