Commercial Advisor - VR/30973

This is a key role supporting a broad range of commercial activities across operated and non-operated UK North Sea interests, offered on an initial 12-month contract. Working closely with senior commercial colleagues, you’ll be involved in negotiations, strategy development, and joint venture management. The role offers exposure to high-level decision-making and collaboration with internal departments and external partners, helping to safeguard value and advance long-term objectives.

     

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the review, interpretation, negotiation, and preparation of key commercial agreements including JOAs, transportation and pipeline agreements, and decommissioning security agreements.
  • Ensuring senior management are informed of key commercial issues and provide recommendations on strategic options.
  • Liaising with internal teams to ensure field development and operational plans align with company interests.
  • Developing and implementing commercial strategies and tactical plans for existing assets and future opportunities.
  • Representing the company at JV and partner meetings, documenting discussions and following up on actions.
  • Providing guidance on commercial matters to internal stakeholders and support the preparation of budgets and asset plans.
  • Preparing Requests for Expenditure and coordinating with partner groups to secure approval.
  • Maintaining awareness of relevant commercial, fiscal, and regulatory developments and brief stakeholders accordingly.
  • Participating in industry forums and networking events to support external engagement.
  • Supporting the monitoring of statutory requirements in collaboration with Legal and HSSEQ Teams.

      

About You:

  • Commercially experienced in the UK oil and gas industry, ideally with an Operator.
  • Confident supporting negotiations on JOAs, TSA, DSA, and third-party access agreements.
  • Familiar with UKCS joint venture structures and regulatory frameworks.
  • Able to contribute to commercial strategy, planning, and budgeting processes.
  • Skilled at working with multi-disciplinary teams across technical and commercial functions.
  • Comfortable representing the company at JV meetings and industry forums.
  • Strong communicator, able to prepare and present concise recommendations.
  • Proactive and organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Aware of fiscal and regulatory developments affecting UKCS activity.
  • Numerate, with good working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
