Be shmu's Communications Secret Agent

shmu is a nationally recognised centre of excellence for its work to transform the lives of individuals and communities across North East Scotland, but in many cases, what shmu does is a well-kept secret.

It’s time to change that.

Your job will be to take the communications activity to a new level, dramatically increasing awareness of the impact of shmu's work, locally, nationally and internationally.

You’ll do this by:

  • Leading the development of internal communications with support from the Communications Team and Graphic Designer.
  • Creating and implementing a comprehensive external communications strategy to increase shmu's profile, reach and stakeholder engagement.
  • Delivering training in communications and PR to staff and volunteers, and pupils for the comms related elements of the Foundation Apprenticeship in Creative and Digital Media.
  • Co-ordinating stakeholder communications and supporting the development of brand materials and broadcasts.

You need to be an inventive, inclusive, super sleuth.

Inventive: Raise awareness of the impactful work across 7 regeneration areas and 8 service lines through robust planning, creative content and innovative execution.

Inclusive: Deliver communications which are meaningful to shmu's target audiences to ensure it fully represents all key groups (including supporters, volunteers, staff and the communities we serve) and promote social cohesion.

Super sleuth: Stories can only be told and successes can only be shared if you know about them. It’s essential that you are approachable and enthusiastic, working closely with all staff to discover internal and external communications opportunities while nurturing shmu's reputation of trusted excellence.

To understand why this is a communications role with unparalleled opportunity to tell stories and raise awareness of work that really makes a difference, request a candidate pack from Emma Hunter, ehunter@tmmrecruitment.com.

It includes the detailed job specification along with supporting background information about shmu and where this role sits within the organisation, why shmu's community initiatives are so important and how these projects are funded. In addition to being clearer about whether this opportunity is right for you, this information will support your application and subsequent interview preparation.
