We are looking for an experienced HR professional, preferably with a commercial background who understands that good HR practice always meets the needs of the business as well as the needs of the staff. We want a person who presents solutions not obstacles and someone who will fit in well with the existing senior team members. Responsible to: Chief Executive
Key Objectives
Innovation:
- To assist the Chief Executive in the development of and implementation of the strategic plan.
- To develop, implement and regulate HR & L & D strategies that are aligned to Cornerstones Aims, Vision and Values.
- To work as a partner to the business to ensure effective resolution of HR issues.
Teamwork & Working Relationships:
- To participate as a member of the Senior Management Team contributing to the direction, development and management of Cornerstone.
- To provide line management support, supervision and leadership to the HR & L&D teams.
Communication:
- To ensure that people management information systems are in place, providing managers and the Chief Executive with key information they require to effectively manage and plan, providing a reliable basis for informed decision making.
- To write and present reports to Cornerstones Board, in particular the Quality & Audit and Staffing committees, as required.
- To liaise with colleagues, external agencies and network across the sector to ensure adherence to National Standards (SSSC).
Planning & Organising:
- To control and manage relevant budgets, preparing regular management reports on financial matters to assist in the process of service performance, monitoring and review.
- To ensure that the organisation has business processes and administrative processes which are fully integrated and fit for purpose and compliant with legal regulations and standards.
- To oversee the development and maintenance of relevant policies and procedures.
Leadership:
- To provide line management support, supervision and leadership to direct reports.
- To lead and manage strategic objectives as required.
- To take the lead for the development of the HR & L & D plans in line with the organisations strategic objectives.
- To drive effective performance management in the business through close working with Regional Directors.
Problem Solving & Decision Making:
- To be responsible for making the decisions relating to the operation of the HR & L&D functions.
- To be responsible for ensuring that the key skills, qualification and training needs of the workforce are identified making decisions on the most cost effective use of resources.
Customer Focus:
- To ensure that the HR & L & D functions supports the Cornerstone vision of meeting the expectations the people we support and our Aim - to enable the people we support to enjoy a valued life.
- To ensure that Cornerstone complies with external standards as required by SQA, SSSC, Care Inspectorate and local authorities.
Cornerstone Ways of Working:
- To be an ambassador for Cornerstone and a good role model to junior colleagues.
- To undertake any other duties as required which fall within the general specifications of the post.
Hours of Work/Location
The contracted hours are 36.25 per week. The post requires extensive travel, mainly in Scotland and at this level, it is expected that the post holder will manage his or her own time effectively, meeting the requirements of the post while maintaining an acceptable work life balance.
The post holder can be based in any one of Cornerstones regional offices in Aberdeen, Glasgow or Dundee.
Person Specification:
CIPD qualification or equivalent essential.
Ability to travel to all offices is essential.
Experience operating as part of a senior management team, in a similar role, highly preferable.
