Drilling Engineer - VR/26555
Currently recruiting for an experienced Drilling Engineer on a permanent staff basis for an E&P Company based in central Aberdeen. This role would suit an individual who is in the early stages of their drilling engineering career, and who has around 3-5 years’ drilling engineering experience.
The Drilling Engineer will be responsible for well design, planning, programming and operations management across the company’s operated portfolio.
The Drilling Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Preparing well designs, drilling programmes and regulatory submissions in compliance with local statutory requirements and company corporate policies, standards and procedures.
- Conducting well planning in accordance with the Well Delivery Process (WDP) and ensuring compliance.
- Technical lead for assigned contracts. Responsible for managing the agreed relationship with service providers and in setting the KPIs with the Contract Owner and C&P Specialist.
- Providing input, as required, into preparation of permits and applications to statutory bodies to conform to local governmental and other agency requirements.
- Preparing scoping, budgetary and AFE level well costs. Monitoring field costs and analysing variances.
- Monitoring and measuring performance against expectations. Analysing variances and acting as a focal point for lessons learned.
- Coordinating and liaising with other company disciplines on well related issues.
- Liaising with and supporting well-site activities as directed.
- Promoting and managing all well construction performance improvement initiatives resulting from the lessons learned.
- Developing wells to an appropriate state of readiness to facilitate rig selection and well allocation.
- Applying functional specifications to deliver optimum well designs.
- Ensuring that long lead material and equipment are identified for procurement on time.
- Initiating shallow hazards assessment and borehole surveys.
- Optimising performance, where possible, by appropriate application of new technology.
- Scheduling material and personnel required to meet programme objectives.
- Implementing lessons learned system in relation to drilling operations.
- Accurate and timely reporting of all programme activities.
- Maintaining end of well records, lessons learned and complete well files.
- Encouraging good, open communications with contractors – promoting a culture of involvement and participation.
- Complying with well examination process and submission of all drilling permits and permissions required to meet drilling plan.
Experience / Qualifications:
- A relevant engineering degree qualification would be preferred.
- IWCF well control certification is essential.
- Previous experience (3-5 years) in a similar Drilling Engineer type role, within the oil and gas industry, is essential.
- Previous experience in a similar role, directly with an E&P company / operator, would be preferred.
- Well engineering and site supervision experience is essential.
- Specific HPHT experience would be preferred.
- SNS drilling and well design experience would be preferred.
