Currently recruiting for an experienced Floater Package Lead on a contract basis for an E&P company based in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. It is a 2-year contract position, and the company are only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role. Hybrid working opportunities will be available.

   

The Floater Package Lead will aim to qualify one of the highest potential semi-submersible floater designs within the industry, with start-up aimed for 2024.  The pilot will be installed in tie-back to an oil and gas platform in the North Sea, with the ambition to work on the hybridisation of the power generation of the site. 

      

The post holder will lead the preparation of the Floater package execution contract, which will include:

  • Preparing scope of work.
  • Preparing contract technical exhibits.
  • Technical clarification with bidders.
  • Technical qualification of bidder proposal with PJC support.

             

Reporting to the Floating Wind Project Leader, the Floater Package Lead will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Project Leader with the preparation of the call for tender to be launched for Procurement and EPC phase. Identifying the required technical information/document for each and ensure their availability in time.
  • Anticipating any inputs that may supply the company during the FEED phases to allow contractors to run their study in expected planning.
  • Ensuring the floater package project objectives are defined and achieved in terms of planning, cost and hybridisation. Understanding the FEED scope of work and progress and ensuring continuity between the project phases.
  • Identifying and mobilising the required support to answer any difficulties that may impact the delivery planning.
  • Following-up on the certification of the FEED engineering phase by a third-party class approval organism.
  • Assisting the Pilot Leader with the preparation of internal reviews and FID process.
  • Deputising for Project Leader during periods of absence.
  • Ensuring decisions are made in full understanding with asset integrity and major accident hazard management, demonstrating to the wider business that risks from major accident hazards are being managed.
  • Contributing to internal reporting (technical reports, portfolio management, budget tracking, etc) and presentations to management to ensure key stakeholders are aware of the project progress including cost and schedule progress updates and labour requirements against approved budgets. Highlighting key challenges and providing solutions to mitigate.
  • Collaborating with R&D wind program to develop the R&D objectives for the pilot, particularly for the industrialisation objectives and operation and maintenance phase of the pilot.
  • Ensuring that the FOW pilot project benefits from ongoing R&D activities and propose R&D work relevant for the pilot project.
  • Coordinating the internal technical support for the study execution (technical clarifications, documents technical review, etc.).
  • Identifying and managing the technical interfaces between contractors and company.
  • Leading the contract validation process, ensuring the coherence between technical exhibits and contract terms and conditions. Ensuring the technical interfaces with WTG package, IAC package and brownfield package are assessed and included in the contract.
  • Leading the commercial negotiation to ensure that the Floater package element of the project budget is respected, and any variances are highlighted and mitigated.

                

Experience/Qualifications:

  • A Master’s Degree qualification in an engineering discipline is essential.
  • Chartered Engineer status would be preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, directly within the North Sea offshore wind or subsea sectors, is essential.
  • Proven track record in the delivery of subsea and/or offshore wind projects, including offshore experience and contract management, is essential.
  • Previous experience in the offshore project engineering phase is essential.
