We are looking for a HSE Advisor to join a global Aviation company based in Dyce, Aberdeen on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate a thorough understanding and knowledge of regulatory compliance and will drive continuous improvement whilst working within a dynamic and focused HSE Team. Some travel would be required as part of the role.

     

The HSE Advisor is responsible for providing Health, Safety and Environmental support to the company’s UK and European operations as required. The HSE Advisor will be required to demonstrate a thorough understanding and knowledge of regulatory compliance. The HSE Advisor will drive continuous improvement whilst working within a dynamic and focused HSE Team.

      

Main duties & responsibilities:

Environmental

  • Developing procedures and processes to support ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications.
  • Reviewing environmental regulation to update procedures as required to ensure continued compliance.
  • Environmental auditing.
  • Monitoring environmental KPI’s and preparing reports.
  • Supporting environmental projects and campaigns.
  • Attending and supporting Environmental Committee meetings.

      

Risk Assessment

  • Assisting and engaging with line Managers and Supervisors to develop Departmental Risk Assessments, COSHH and Ergonomic Risk Assessments through use of MAC, RAPP etc assessment tools, DSE.
  • Fire Risk Assessments.

      

Accident Investigation

  • Investigating industrial injury accidents and incidents.
  • Undertaking interviews and discussions as required.
  • Preparing accident investigation reports.
  • Monitoring accident records and analyse data for trends.
  • Creating lessons learned and communicate out to raise awareness and prevent repeat incidents.
  • Ensuring correct documentation is raised and prepare internal and external accident statistics.
  • Reporting injuries to the HSE under RIDDOR if required.

     

Audits/Inspections

  • Carrying out routine workplace inspections as well as assisting nominated HSE Champions as required.
  • Carrying out UK/Europe base health safety and environmental audits.
  • Supporting the ISO14001 and 45001 audit programmes.
  • Undertaking root cause analysis and identifying HSE issues.
  • Evaluating corrective/preventative action/analysis of trends.
  • Managing closure of findings ensuring target dates are met and supporting departmental teams to do so.

      

Control of Contractors

  • Supporting departments as required to ensure the safe control of contractors.
  • Contractor HSE inductions
  • Managing contractor database.
  • Liaising with the Facilities Team to provide HSE advice.

      

HSE Issues

  • Providing advice and assisting with implementation of practical solutions for day-to-day HSE issues for all levels of staff in conjunction with the HSE Lead and wider Safety and Compliance Team.
  • Advising on HSE legislation issues.
  • Conducting HSE inductions for new staff including allocation of mandatory training.

      

Work Permits

  • Monitoring Permit to Work system to ensure effectiveness.

      

Training

  • Supporting and delivering HSE training.
  • Developing training materials for HSE requirements.

      

Raising Safety & Environmental Regulatory Awareness

  • Delivering training.
  • Providing advice.
  • Communicating.

      

Applicants to this role require:

  • NEBOSH qualification or equivalent in OHS/Environment (Essential).
  • Previous experience in a similar HSE Advisor type role (Essential).
  • Experience of ISO14001 and ISO 45001 (Desirable).
  • Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment training (IEMA) (Desirable).
  • Membership of IOSH (Desirable).
  • Auditor Experience (Desirable).
