Lead CCS Well Engineer - VR/28264
Currently recruiting for an experienced Lead CCS Well Engineer on a contract basis for an E&P Company based in central Aberdeen. It is an initial 12-month contract position - however, it is anticipated to be a long-term position. The company are only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role and hybrid working opportunities will be available.
The Lead CCS Well Engineer will provide well & completion concept selection, design, planning, programming and operations management the company’s operated portfolio. The post holder will promote techniques and strategies that optimise asset value and enhance life of well performance. The successful candidate will ensure that all wells have an optimum completion/well design that consider risks versus potential cost saving. The post holder will be expected to lead completion / drilling engineering for CCS projects.
Reporting to the Head of Well Services, the Lead CCS Well Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Assessing existing technology, for application on CCS/wells projects.
- Progressing CCS wells through the full lifecycle – license application, to detailed design and execution.
- Preparing all well concepts in compliance with local statutory requirements and corporate policies, standards and procedures.
- Providing production technology related expertise to support well concept decisions.
- Well inflow and outflow performance modelling and optimisation.
- Conceptual well and completion design.
- Designing well/reservoir interface (including sand management).
- Well, reservoir and facility management (including production system modelling and optimisation) and well integrity management (including specification of the operating envelope for the well).
- Understanding the impact of completion concepts on production performance for the life of the well.
- Managing the well planning process as per the Well Delivery Process (WDP) and ensure compliance.
- Preparing scopes of work and appropriate specifications for procurement of company studies, equipment and services.
- Technical lead for assigned contracts. Responsible for managing the agreed relationship with service providers and in setting the KPIs with the Contract Owner and C&P Specialist.
- Preparing scoping, budgetary and AFE level completion costs. Monitoring field costs and analysing variances.
- Monitoring and measuring performance against expectations. Analysing variances and acting as a focal point for lessons learned.
- Effective liaison and communication with the Subsurface and Drilling and Wells Management Teams.
- Implementing lessons learned system and championing of all performance improvement initiatives applicable to well completions performance.
- Evaluating and designing production enhancement technologies (hydraulic fracturing, acid treatment, scale control).
- Optimising production from existing wells and determine impact of completion/well intervention decisions on production performance over the life of the well.
- Selecting functional specifications to deliver optimum completion designs.
- Ensuring that completions operations meet agreed budget and objectives.
- Accurate and timely reporting of all completions activities.
- Maintaining end of well records, lessons learned and complete well files.
Experience/Qualifications:
- A relevant degree qualification in Drilling/Chemical/Mechanical/Petroleum Engineering, or similar, is essential.
- IWCF well control certification is essential.
- Previous experience in a similar role, directly within the North Sea oil and gas industry, is essential.
- Previous experience in a similar role, directly with an E&P company/operator, would be preferred.
- Relevant experience in petroleum/production engineering, with exposure to multiple well types, is essential.
