Lead Mechanical Engineer (Rotating Equipment) - VR/31768

Seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer (Rotating Equipment) on a contract basis for an E&P company based in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. It is contract position that is anticipated to run for 6-9 months and the company are only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role.

  

Reporting to the Engineering & Modifications Leader, the Lead Mechanical Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Leading discipline engineers: setting priorities, providing guidance, and monitoring progress.
  • Providing specialist technical advice to Tier 1 and offshore personnel for safe and efficient operations.
  • Investigating incidents, support RCA processes, and implementing preventive actions.
  • Conducting technical surveys on-site / offshore and at vendor locations.
  • Verifying maintenance and inspection strategies for cost and reliability optimisation.
  • Ensuring maintenance activities are prioritised within operational plans.
  • Acting as Proponent Engineer for facility modification projects; prepare / review scopes, economic justification, and ensure proper close-out.
  • Taking ownership of complex, high-risk, or high-cost maintenance activities.
  • Reviewing new materials for QC codes and MRP stock levels.
  • Analysing equipment performance (failure rates, obsolescence, defect trends) and recommend long-term solutions.
  • Leading multi-discipline teams for complex equipment problem resolution.
  • Developing operating philosophy and duty / standby modes for rotating equipment.
  • Serving as Emergency Response Team member as required.

              

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A Mechanical Engineering degree qualification, or similar, is essential.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, directly within the North Sea Oil & Gas industry, is essential.
  • Major rotating equipment engineering experience, directly within the North Sea Oil & Gas industry, is essential.
  • Previous offshore / site experience is essential.
  • Demonstrable experience in planning and executing major overhauls on rotating equipment is essential.
  • Applicants should have strong experience in the maintenance and operation of Siemens and Rolls-Royce GT engine packages.
  • Previous experience in managing OEM contracts for major rotating equipment is essential.
