Urgent requirement for a Lead Operational Safety Advisor to join a leading Oil and Gas Operator on a PAYE cover contract until the end of 2023. This role is based in Westhill, Aberdeen with occasional visits to Shetland. Candidates must be available on short notice and have experience in a similar role.

     

Reporting to the HSE Manager, as the Lead Operational Safety Advisor, you will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintaining a high awareness of industry and professional best practice through effective networking, professional organisations, journals, etc.
  • Responsibility for providing work direction and technical guidance, checking work/project progress and setting priorities for the Safety and Occupational Health Practitioner.
  • Responsible for providing support to site based HSE professionals and working with them on common objectives.
  • Responsible for the inputting of occupational health and safety objectives into the annual asset HSE improvement plan.
  • Responsible for the input of occupational health and safety audits into the annual asset audit plan through a risk-based assessment looking at areas such as legal compliance and incident trends.
  • Responsible for inputting into the annual monitoring plan for the asset.
  • Assisting in conducting monitoring activities as per the asset monitoring plan.
  • Responsible for conducting audits in accordance with the asset audit plan.
  • Responsible for monitoring and inputting to CMS.
  • Responsible for providing HSE support to shared services under asset responsibility.
  • Responsible for the production of appropriate level 3 and level 4 procedures and related training materials for occupational safety and health.
  • Responsible for providing the required support to assets during implementation of safety and occupational health plans and procedures. This support may require spending a period of time on the operational site during roll-out and implementation.
  • Coordinating safety and occupational health support for onshore and offshore health and safety committees.
  • Ensuring the development of an effective emergency response function for the operational sites within the asset.
  • Assisting in preparing emergency and bridging documents.
  • Assisting in preparing contractor interface documents and facilitating of contractor HSE forums.
  • Facilitating accident investigation/root cause analysis.
  • Responsible for ensuring HSE I&S applications are effectively implemented within the asset (e.g. 4SIGHT including Database, Stop the Job, Stre@m Prevent, Stre@m Synergi and permit to work).
  • Assisting in the compilation of SIMOPS dossiers for simultaneous operations between operations and construction/operations and drilling, seismic and operations.
  • Assisting in the HSE evaluation of contractors during the ITT process and the follow up of any recommendations made during the HSE evaluation.
  • Responsible for attending and providing the input to contractor performance review meetings.
  • Responsible for ensuring the asset inputs the correct information into STRE@M and ensuring STRE@M governance is adhered to.
  • Assisting in communicating information relating to incidents within the asset and also sharing lessons learned from Rex+.
  • Responsible for ensuring all occupational health issues within the asset are effectively controlled (e.g. accommodation hygiene, potable water management, noise, handling of chemicals/COSHH, ergonomics, radioactive materials, health surveillance, management of hazardous substances e.g. mercury, benzene, etc.).
  • Ensuring occupational health risk assessment files for each operational site are maintained.
  • Responsible for developing health surveillance strategy for company and contractors so that records are kept of personnel exposure (e.g., noise, hand arm vibration, nightshift working etc.).
  • Responsible for attending the daily morning call for operations, delegating when not available and sharing the information with the team.

        

Key Experience/Qualifications:

  • Degree educated.
  • Professional safety/occupational health qualification.
  • Previous experience within a similar role.
  • Capable of influencing the impact of emerging legislation and industry trends.
  • Representing the company at an industry level and leading/facilitating workgroups.
  • Good knowledge of UK onshore and offshore health and safety legislation, sufficient to offer good advice without reference, and be able to offer detailed advice through reference to documentation.
  • Thorough knowledge of company and group health and safety standards and procedures.
  • Lead Auditor.
  • Trained to lead investigations of significant accidents/incidents.
