Mechanical Design Engineer (Orcaflex) - VR/17998
Currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer (Orcaflex) on a permanent staff basis for an Oil and Gas company based in Aberdeen.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Designing and optimising products from initial concept stage through to production in a professional and time efficient manner.
- Producing 3D CAD Models and Detail Drawings to provide solutions in accordance with clients’ requirements.
- Producing technical reports detailing work completed and the products produced. Including but not limited to, Hydrodynamic Analysis using Orcaflex, engineering calculations, Finite Element Analysis and CFD.
- Assisting in the development of company design systems, standards and procedures.
- Contributing development ideas for new and existing products in new and existing industries.
- Supporting work for proposals and projects that are working to tight deadlines.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- An Engineering Degree qualification in a Mechanical or Structural discipline. A Mechanical Engineering Degree qualification would be preferred.
- Alternatively, an HND qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline with a minimum of 5 years’ mechanical design engineering experience.
Desirable:
- Chartered Engineering status, or working towards.
Experience:
Essential:
- A minimum of 3 years’ design engineering experience within a fast-paced engineering design environment, preferably in the Oil and Gas Industry.
- Strong knowledge, understanding and competency in Hydrodynamic Analysis techniques, preferably using Orcaflex.
- Experience with FEA and 3D CAD software.
Desirable:
- 5 years’ plus mechanical engineering design experience.
- 3 years’ experience in Hydrodynamic analysis, preferably analysing Mooring systems or Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines in the offshore Oil and Gas Industry.
- Experience with FEA and CFD simulation techniques.
- Programming experience with Visual Basic.
- Composites experience.
- Injection moulding experience.
- Experience of working with plastics in a design environment.
- Programming and macro derivation experience.
- Experience of designing buoyancy products.
- Autodesk Inventor and Meridian experience.
- Mathcad experience.
