Mechanical Engineer - VR/24138
Currently recruiting for an experienced office-based Mechanical Engineer, who has an understanding of instrumentation, on a contract basis for an oil and gas company based in Stoneywood, Aberdeen. It is a 12-month contract position and the successful candidate will be required to work in the office, however, there could be scope for some remote / home working. The company is only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role.
Working within Production Controls, the Mechanical Engineer will develop products and provide solutions, in order to meet client deliverables in the Subsea projects’ portfolio. The post holder will be required to work across multiple projects at one time.
The Mechanical Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Supporting offshore operations and workshop activities, including technical documentation, investigations and solutions.
- Managing a team of Design Engineers - assessing their competencies, proposing training to improve competency gaps. Coaching and guiding them in their work and career development.
- Providing sufficient support to ensure engineering KPIs are met.
- Ensuring that product design conforms to the requirement specifications.
- Working with instrumentation suppliers.
- Working to agreed schedules.
- Engagement with relevant stakeholders (internal and external) – developing and maintaining effective relationships / partnerships to meet project deliverables.
- Generating technical procurement specifications, parts and document suites that are specific to specific to subsea instrumentation. Working with the following instrumentation products;
- Wet Gas Flow Meter (WGFM);
- Multi-Phase Flow Meter (MPFM);
- Chemical Injection Metering Valve (CIMV);
- Acoustic Sand Detector (ASD);
- Electrical Flying Leads (EFLs);
- Pressure Temperature Sensors (PTs); and
- Optical Flying Leads (OFLs).
Experience / Qualifications:
- A relevant degree qualification in an Engineering discipline is essential.
- Previous experience in a similar Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer type role, within the oil and gas / subsea sectors, is essential.
- A basic understanding of electrical / electronic / instrumentation equipment is essential.
