Currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Technical Authority on a permanent staff basis for an FPSO Operator based in Aberdeen. It will be a full-time office-based position and this role will involve occasional international travel, as well as possible offshore travel.

   

The Mechanical Technical Authority will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Owner of technical standards, which defines the minimum requirements for new and operating assets.
  • Providing technical leadership, mentoring and expert advice to the wider organisation, where required.
  • Verifying activities to ensure compliance with technical standards, design performance standards and operational performance standards.
  • Facilitating technical lessons learnt through the lessons learnt database. Leading to the continuous improvement of technical standards and other engineering documents, methods and tools.
  • Verifying engineering methods and tools.
  • In addition to mechanical, the technical authority shall also be the focal point for interaction with materials (equipment), mechanical handling and piping and layout.
  • Collaborating with Projects and Asset Operations in the field of rotating machinery, static equipment, and packaged equipment.

         

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, is essential.
  • Previous experience in a Lead Mechanical Engineer type role, directly within the North Sea oil and gas industry, is essential.
  • Previous experience in a similar Mechanical technical authority / subject matter expert type role, directly within the North Sea oil and gas industry, would be preferred.
  • Experience in both operations and projects is essential.
  • Previous experience with FPSOs would be preferred.
  • Experience with mechanical engineering and design is essential.
  • Previous experience with materials (equipment), mechanical handling and piping and topsides layout would be advantageous.
  • Applicants should have experience with rotating, static and packaged equipment.
