TMM Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Mud Logging Analyst on an ad-hoc contract basis for a large oil and gas service company based in Aberdeen. The successful candidate will work offshore on an ad-hoc basis, and will be expected to be available at short notice for mobilisation during December. The contract will likely last until the middle of March 2021, and the company is only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role. Applicants will be expected to be in possession of the full suite of offshore certification, and all applicants must be fully eligible to work in the UK.

   

The Mud Logging Analyst will be responsible for the management and creation of formation evaluation logs.  These logs are created from the analysis and interpretation of the drilled cuttings at the well site to determine rock type and hydrocarbon presence, as well as the presence of other potentially harmful gases. 

   

Monitoring all well parameters, the Mud Logging Analyst will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

   

  • Ensuring the integrity of the samples collected; analysing, interpreting and reporting in the End of Well Report, and entering within the formation evaluation log all information relating to the cutting samples.
  • Responsible for communicating to Client representatives any information regarding primary well control and well integrity, during well site operations, as deducted from the data.
  • Responsible for maintaining and analysing the volume balance sheet during well site operations.
  • Alerting the Data Analyst to any discrepancies in the formation evaluation, or gases analysis observed.
  • Involved in the detection and monitoring of potential well control situations.
  • Ensuring the design of an accurate and comprehensive formation evaluation log, according to the client's format.
  • Using experience and judgment to improve the service quality delivery and communicating to the Data Analyst all improvement opportunities.
  • Interacting with other service companies’ personnel and client representatives at the well site, ensuring the prevention of events that may give rise to wellbore insecurity.
  • Providing technical advice and assistance in core recovery and core description.
  • Sharing with other well site personnel the responsibility for rigging up and rigging down the mud logging equipment.
  • Keeping the confidentiality of the client’s well data.
  • Managing and providing support, coaching and guidance to Sample Catchers.

    

Experience / Qualifications:

    

  • A degree qualification in a relevant discipline (Geology, Petroleum Geology, Geoscience, Geological Applied Sciences or Earth Sciences) is essential.
  • Previous and recent experience in a similar offshore Mud / Surface Logging Analyst type role, within the oil and gas industry, is essential.
