Opportunity for an experienced Offshore Safety Drilling Advisor to join an oil and gas operator on an 8-month PAYE contract basis. With a 3/3 rotation, the successful applicant will have experience in a similar role and would get started in January 2024.

    

Reporting to the Offshore – Drilling & Completion Superintendent, as the Offshore Drilling Safety Advisor, you will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Witness critical operations, - heavy lifts, casing operations, skidding operations and anchor handling operations etc.
  • From operations programs and look-ahead, extract critical aspects regarding personnel safety and environment protection. Brief teams accordingly, through proper communication and coaching.
  • Performing constant safety walks around the well operations area to assess the level of awareness and compliance of Rig Teams.
  • Assisting the Drilling and Completion Supervisor during emergencies.
  • Conducting incident investigations for all drilling and well related events and raise stream cases for further review/input.

                     

Procedures Reviews:

  • Audit main critical job risk assessments.
  • Conducting procedure reviews/audits as per D&W requirements/requests.
  • Performing site checks, pushing for continuous improvement of JRA quality and RA in WCC.
  • Reviewing safety compliance of procedures and programs received.
  • Reviewing rig procedures, ref; D&W SHE&I plan.
  • Delivering information sessions, around given health safety and environment topics or themes.

                   

SIMOPS:

  • Witness work in “well operations area” and assisting Drilling and Completion Supervisor in checking for compliance with SIMOPS procedures.
  • Ensuring periodic tests required in SIMOPS are performed and documented, ESD, gas tests etc.
  • Witness work in “well operations area” and check for compliance with company E&P procedures.

                      

HSE compliance:

  • Performing “drilling” familiarisation scope to new arrivals on the platform.
  • Ensuring that all safety tools are being utilised fully by all personnel to prevent incidents from occurring and/or escalation (in conjunction with drilling contractor: motivated team leaders, etc.).
  • Actively participating in rig weekly safety meetings.
  • Working closely with the Contractor Safety Advisor, i.e. preparing safety meetings, safety campaigns, safety card issues which have been entered into a tracking sheet.
  • Participating in morning and evening meetings as required.
  • Actively participating to toolbox talks/pre tour meetings safety practices.
  • Participating and/or lead hazard hunts with the drilling contractor.
  • Expected to “stop the job” when any operation is identified as being carried out below required safety standards.

                               

Reporting and Stream:

  • Updating Steam as required.
  • Assisting the RSES-D with early notification of incident report.
  • Ensuring all D&W incident reporting requirements adhered to (e.g. flash incident report storybooks prior to 8:30am (platform OIM approval with company man).
  • Participating actively in root cause analyses, near-miss reports and accident reports sessions.
  • Establishing close follow-up analysis and feedback based on safety cards system in place through the drilling contractor, ensuring close-up action plans.
  • Ensuring all actions (from incidents, RCA’s, audits, rig inspections etc.) are closed out in a timely fashion.
  • Performing analysis and giving feedback based on safety cards system and monitoring action close out.
  • Preparing weekly SHE reports for onshore management.
  • Performing the Rig POB and exercise reports – submitted weekly and every first of the month.

                                   

Key experience/Qualifications:

  • Relevant and appropriate experience in a similar role.
  • Current offshore certification (BOSIET, etc.).
