Petrophysicist - VR/26267
Currently recruiting for an experienced Petrophysicist on a contract basis for an E&P Company based in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. It is a 12-month contract position and the company are only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role. The company is ideally looking to have someone in post by the start of January 2023 at the latest.
This will be a predominately office-based role and it will involve occasional out of hours / weekend work. This is a fast-paced role which will offer a huge variety of work, and the successful candidate will be working within a multi-disciplinary team.
Working as part of the Subsurface Team, the Petrophysicist will contribute to upstream core asset areas including near-field exploration. The post holder will be expected to deliver maximum value in terms of production, investment, reserves performance and growth. The successful candidate will develop and implement subsurface strategies to deliver maximum life-of-asset value from the assets.
Reporting to the Lead Petrophysicist, the Petrophysicist will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Independently performing accurate petrophysical analysis of Exploration, Appraisal and Development wells under the guidance of the Senior and Lead Petrophysicist.
- In conjunction with operations geologists and Asset teams, contribute to the design of well data acquisition programmes and / or contribute to the design core and fluid analysis programmes for Exploration, Appraisal and Development wells.
- Providing petrophysical support when requested for the design and preparation of well intervention data acquisition scopes.
- Contributing to the upkeep and organisation of the subsidiary’s log and petrophysical database.
- Producing quick-look and advanced log-analysis of wells drilled by the subsidiary as operator or partner.
- Contributing to projects / teams / task force (e.g. new acreage review / reserves / opportunities / field development plan) with respect to petrophysical issues, with the aim of achieving project or technical deadlines within budgetary constraints.
- Working with contractors, when required, to ensure that company best practices are followed and a technically sound product is delivered.
- Effectively justifying technical analysis and recommendations and present these to line Management, Project Team or Team / Project Leaders.
- Representing company, when required, at subsurface committees and workgroups, presenting technical interpretations and recommendations.
Experience / Qualifications:
- A relevant Degree qualification in an Earth / Physical Science discipline would be preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar Petrophysicist type role, within the North Sea Oil and Gas industry, is essential.
- Previous experience in a similar role, directly with a North Sea-based Operator, would be preferred.
- Experience of working in a multi-discipline environment with exposure to subsurface oil & gas operations is essential.
- Experience with petrophysical software is required. Geolog experience would be advantageous, as would experience be with Techlog and Interactive Petrophysics.
- A working knowledge of core evaluation techniques is essential.
- HP / HT experience would be advantageous.
