Platform Decommissioning Engineer - VR/27718
Currently recruiting for an experienced Platform Decommissioning Engineer on a contract basis for an E&P Company based in Kingswells, Aberdeen. It is an onshore maternity cover contract position that is currently due to run until 02/02/24. The company are only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role and hybrid working opportunities will be available.
The Platform Decommissioning Engineer will support the Decommissioning Project team in the development of safe and cost-effective decommissioning solutions for the platform.
Reporting to the Project Manager – Decommissioning, the Platform Decommissioning Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Providing a high level of technical support across all UKCS decommissioning projects and ensure timely development of all deliverables required for the International Stage Gate Process.
- Liaising with other disciplines within the Decommissioning Team to ensure fit-for-purpose, cost-effective and regulatory compliant decommissioning solutions are identified and delivered in a timely manner across the full decommissioning scope.
- Focus on innovative technologies and methodologies to support the ambition to drive down the cost of decommissioning in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
- Acting as technical focal point for platform decommissioning engagement with Regulators and engagement of Supply Chain / technology providers.
- Scoping platform decommissioning activities – including identification and mitigation of any potential issues arising in execution and/or handover phases – to ensure decommissioning liabilities are fully understood and delivered in accordance with DESNZ, NSTA and HSE expectations.
- Providing suitable oversight of third party work to ensure it is completed in accordance with expectations and industry regulations. Ensure close-out of engineering scopes is completed in a timely manner.
- Reviewing and challenging scope to ensure the optimum use of methods and resources.
- Applying fit-for-purpose Management of Change in line with company procedures.
- As required, undertaking site visits to Supply Chain providers and offshore visits to the platform.
- Developing and maintaining positive and constructive relationships with project stakeholders.
Experience / Qualifications:
- A relevant engineering degree qualification is essential.
- Current / valid offshore certification would be preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar Platform Decommissioning Engineer type role, directly within the North Sea oil and gas industry, is essential.
- A discipline process engineering background within the North Sea oil and gas industry would be preferred, however, candidates who are mechanically engineering biased could also be considered.
- Experience in offshore construction and/or decommissioning is essential.
- Previous experience in the project management of multidiscipline offshore engineering (construction or decommissioning) is essential.
- Applicants should have a broad working knowledge of platform topsides.
