Currently recruiting for an experienced Reservoir Engineer on a contract basis for an Oil and Gas Operator based in Aberdeen.

The contract will likely last until the end of the year and the client is ideally looking to take on a candidate who is available at short notice.  All applicants must be fully eligible to work in the UK.

Reporting to the Production Optimisation Leader, the Reservoir Engineer will be allocated to an Asset Geosciences Team and will be expected to develop, recommend and implement reservoir management strategies to maximise the value of the asset (i.e. production optimisation).  The Reservoir Engineer may be called onsite to witness operations on an ad-hoc basis; therefore applicants must be willing to work offshore.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Evaluating resources and reserves ranges of field development projects in association with G&G colleagues. Expected to provide an evaluation of subsurface risks and uncertainties of these projects.  Autonomous use of reservoir simulation techniques, model building and decline curve analysis.
  • Performing analysis of field and well production behaviour, incorporating G&G understanding of the field, in order to define the reservoir management strategy and to propose production optimising operations. Preparing Well Intervention Requests and WSOR documents.
  • Going offshore to witness relevant operations, such as PLT’s, perforations, cased hole pulse neutron logging, well testing, offshore PVT sampling and production chemistry.
  • Performing yearly reserves and profile evaluations for the Prime, LTP exercises. Performing prospect evaluations.
  • Presenting evaluations in partner meetings, HQ peer reviews and to UK authorities.
  • Involvement in prospect evaluations.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • An Honours Degree qualification in Engineering, or another related discipline, is essential. An MSc Degree qualification would be preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in a similar Reservoir Engineer role, within the Oil and Gas industry, is essential. Field experience of reservoir monitoring activities (i.e. witnessing DST, wireline logging, perforations etc) is essential.
  • An understanding of geological and geophysical concepts, such as sequential stratigraphy correlations, geophysical interpretation, seismic acquisition and processing is essential.
  • An understanding of project economics, well construction concepts and hazards, completion operations and design, well lift performance and allocation is essential.
  • It is essential that the successful candidate is fully autonomous in reservoir engineering techniques, including numerical simulation, well test interpretation, material balance, production logging analysis, PVT analysis, and other company standard reservoir engineering interpretation tools. An understanding of SEC reserves booking is also essential.
