Currently recruiting for a Scaffold Design Engineer on a permanent staff basis for an oil and gas company based in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen.

         

Reporting to the Scaffold Design Manager, the Scaffold Design Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for scaffold design engineering services to all offshore and onshore petrochemical projects / sites for various scopes of work, including welding habitats and lifting frames, as well as large scale access scaffolds for flare booms and drill derricks.
  • Consultation with clients / main contractors to discuss, resolve and design major structural scaffold design requirements.
  • Design drawings, calculations and detailing of structural scaffolds, in accordance with current British Standards, to allow construction of structural scaffolds for offshore and land-based construction / petrochemical sites.
  • Conducting regular site surveys at onshore and offshore installations, with follow up reporting.
  • Supporting with developing and implementing work packs, in relation to scaffold design, including estimates and / or calculations, where applicable.

                

Experience / Qualifications:

                

Essential:

  • A previous role in engineering, or failing this, recent Engineering graduates will be considered.
  • An HND (or above) qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Experience with AutoCAD software.
  • An understanding of structural mechanics.

          

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of scaffolding.
  • Scaffold design experience.
  • Petrochemical site experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with SCIA, or equivalent design and analysis software.
