Currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Carbon Footprint Reduction Engineer on a contract basis for an E&P company based in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. It is a 12-month contract position, and the company are only considering PAYE contractors for this particular role. It is an onshore-based role, but it will involve occasional offshore visits - therefore, applicants must be prepared to work offshore.

    

This role would suit an experienced Process Engineer who has an environmental background.  It would also be suited to a candidate who possesses considerable mature asset knowledge. 

          

Reporting to the NNS Planning & Development Leader, the Senior Carbon Footprint Reduction Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:

              

Carbon Footprint Reduction (CFR) Roadmap:

  • Responsible to deliver the NNS Asset CFR Roadmap, which maps out the methods, projects and phasing implementation required to achieve the asset CO2 emission reduction targets, as well as estimates of GHG emissions savings and resulting impact on installation GHG intensity. Regularly update the roadmap according to the progression of CFR projects. 
  • Identifying the most cost-effective CFR projects in terms of economic and environmental performance, and $ per tonne of CO2 emission reduction.
  • Providing input into the corporate long-term plan process, in conjunction with the Asset LTP Coordinator.

           

Carbon Footprint Reduction (CFR) Projects:

  • Coordinating asset ideas creation workshops (e.g., ideas, screening, technology etc.).
  • Performing high level screening of environmental projects which could reduce CO2 emission generation of the NNS operating assets, with initial priority on low and no cost projects, and projects which minimise energy consumption and promote energy efficiency improvements.
  • Participation with the corporate teams and other assets at CFR workshops, and with HQ CFR teams, in order to share best practices.
  • Reporting the progress of CFR projects to Asset management, highlighting performance according to the Roadmap, and identification of resources required to keep on track.

              

Engineering and Studies:

  • Launching the technical studies required to develop the screened projects up to and including RFM stage or project sanction, depending on the project complexity. This includes coordinating the various engineering disciplines for internally managed projects, managing external resources, or support from OneTech, dependent on the route taken to develop.
  • Preparing the annual budget for CFR studies and projects, and closely monitoring spend and follow-up of activities. Ensuring that deadlines and budgets are met, and that the quality assurance process is maintained.
  • Preparing clear, concise, and comprehensive RFM dossiers associated with CFR projects, and effective handover to asset Engineering & Reliability Team or third party engineering company for detailed engineering and implementation.
  • According to the complexity of the project, preparing project SOR, in line with Petroleum Architect duties.

              

RFM Process:

  • Proposing and justifying modifications to reduce CO2 emissions and optimise energy intensity performance.
  • Providing support to the site and to maintenance and inspection discipline Engineers to ensure timely and effective delivery of modifications, including initiation of cases, design, and engineering. Assisting with the preparation of work packs, implementation on site and close-out.

                

Management of Third Party Vendors:

  • Preparing scopes of work for third party vendor / consultancy services to carry out study and modification work as part of CFR perimeter.
  • Undertaking technical bid evaluations on third party proposals.
  • Providing support for preparation of SAP requisitions for the procurement of materials and third party services.
  • Managing the interface between third parties, SMART room and site operations.
  • Monitoring progress of third parties carrying out study / design and engineering work to ensure timely and cost-effective resolution of issues.

            

Interfaces:

  • Providing input to Smart Room / Ops Team on short term optimisation to reduce CO2 emissions and improve energy efficiencies.
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationships with asset site personnel, other business units and third party contractors and vendors through effective communication and, where possible, site visits.

              

Experience / Qualifications:

  • A relevant chemical / process engineering degree qualification is essential.
  • Experience in oil and gas process / production or refining, with knowledge of offshore process and production systems, is essential.
  • Applicants will be expected to possess previous process engineering experience, as well as an environmental background.
  • Experience of working with mature oil and gas assets is essential.
  • Applicants should possess sound knowledge of emission reduction initiatives and the latest low carbon technologies, and how these can be integrated in the design and evaluated.
